How to map my WP domain to my domain?

  1. I have registered through wordpress and had my site originally hosted there. I have now moved off hosted WP and have a WP instanced installed at How do I keep this domain name but have it point to I tried the redirect feature (301) but that doesn't keep the domain name in the browser so that's not what I'm looking for.

I think I need to CNAME to but I don't know how to set that up. I want it so that my users will still see in the browser URL and NEVER see

The blog I need help with is

  2. I'm not 100% clear about your end goal. Based on what you wrote above, I think you would like to map to and you would like to redirect traffic to Is that correct?

If you wanted to do something else with then you would set it up a lot differently than if you want to keep and for the same blog like I mentioned above.

  3. no, that is not correct.

End goal - have point to a WP hosted on The user never sees in the URL. I *think* the only way to achieve this is CNAMEing over to Can I modify the DNS of the domain I purchased through

If CNAME is not an option, what else can I do?

  4. It's hard to tell what you're referring to. If is a blog here at, you just need to map to it following this guide:

If is a self-hosted blog, you'll need to work that out with your hosting provider.

  5. What is there to work out with my hosting provider.? I purchased the domain name through WP and I want WP to point (CNAME) to my hosting provider. How do I do that?

  6. Sorry for misunderstanding!

You'll need to get the values from your hosting provider, then you can set that up in your Custom DNS panel:

  7. thanks! so if I want to CNAME to, what does the record look like?

    CNAME <subdomain> <host>.

  8. or would it be

    CNAME www

  9. Exactly that. ^^
