How to remove menu at top

Thank you for your help. I thought I wanted a menu at the top, but now I’ve change my mind because it looks ugly and overlaps a good deal of the rest of every page … if that is what it will look like. I would rather, instead, use my pages widget in the right sidebar for navigation. Currently this blog is password protected and private. Actually, I don’t know how all that horsey type that is a menu got there. I must have made a mistake, but I don’t know what it was. When I go to Appearance > Menu, there is nothing there anymore that allows me to delete the menu.

The blog I need help with is chongfamily.wordpress.com.

Create a custom menu with nothing in it and then save it and in the theme locations module, select that blank menu from the pulldown and then click save and the top menu should go away. Make sure and force refresh the page as sometimes browsers are a little too eager to hang onto and use cached pages.

As we Volunteers cannot see into private blogs and cannot help you I’m afraid you will have to wait for Staff, who do have backend access to blogs help you.

I am at a lost. I followed your directions, Sacred Path. I cannot find any Save button when I go to create menu. I went to screen options at the top and clicked everything. Back on the main screen everything on the left is grayed out. When I click on create menu, at the top of the box the word Menu is highlighted with pink shading. I have even logged out and logged back in. I have gone to the link above and studied menus. It shows a list with bars, and it says to click the down arrow to the right, and once expanded, click to remove. I don’t see any of that. The theme I am using is Neutra.
Time Thief, If it will help for you to see a post (there is only one post, the rest are pages) I can make it public. Because right now I feel dead in the water and I am on a deadline. Mahalo from Oahu.

Sorry, the tone of my last comment is just my frustration. I appreciate any tips or where else I can ask for help. Thank you, all who volunteer.

Thesacredpath’s suggestion is the right suggestion. Try these instructions:
