How to transfer administrator of domain name
Hi, The original administrator of this domain is no longer available and I do not have her login information. I would like to pay for the renewal. Is it possible to cancel the domain and re-purchase it under a new Administrator?
The blog I need help with is brandonsearchandrescue.com.
Hi there, only the user gracierosie can manage the domain. If you’ve paid for the domain in the past, though, we can help you get it transferred to the correct user. You would use a transaction ID to regain access here:
Oh, I did want to note as well, domains are not immediately released after cancellation. It takes quite a while in fact before the domain will be available for purchase again (if it is at all.) So you’ll definitely want to work on transferring the domain instead of cancelling it.
We just need authorization from the domain owner, first.
When I look back at how the domain was created, I believe the domain was started from gracierosie’s user name, after which she invited the brsara account to the domain (Nov. 7, 2015). But when she gave us the passwords for the account, she gave us the user information for brsara. Is it possible that there was only a username and password available for brsara at the set-up – meaning she would not have had any other username and password (and this is the information I used to set myself up as the new admin). Is there a place separate from this website for domain set-up that I may need to inquire about?
The person who actually pays for the domain is an admin user, is it possible to have him make the payment first, then transfer the domain over to him so it is attached to the correct user? We do not wish to cancel the domain at all, only transfer to the correct user. There is no way for us to even know if there is a payment method that is valid already in place for automatic withdrawal.
I can confirm that the domain is owned by user gracierosie and only that user can manage it.
Do you know whether gracierosie paid for the domain, or whether someone else in the organization paid for it? If someone in the organization has the transaction ID we should be able to figure something out. Please let us know if you have the transaction ID and who we should email. Again, here’s how to find that:
I will note though that only someone who is logged in as gracierosie can transfer the domain. If there is any way to reach out to them and work with them to sort this out, that would be ideal.
Hello! So now our website has expired by 1 day, we cannot locate gracierosie, and I wonder if it is possible to have a private chat with a technical support rep. We are in the process of trying to locate transaction ids as requested (It would help if we knew the month and year the last payment was made, to narrow it down a bit). Still would request that, as I am sure you would like the bill to be paid, we make a domain payment from a different user. Please assist.
Found the transaction ID! Urgent please help!
Please submit that transaction ID using our account recovery form that @supernovia linked to above:
Then someone from our account recovery team will contact you via email to help you regain access to the correct account.

This is not about payment, but about making changes to a domain registration, and only the owner of a domain can do that.
Thank you for sending the account recovery link (11:47 pm last night)! It seems now that the original user finally responded at (8:00 this morning), and stated she is working to transfer the domain information over to me. Please advise whether I should wait for that information to come through instead of using the account recovery method? I am the technical administrator, the domain owner is user @prairiephyre13, so if the request is being transferred to me only, I will be wanting to send it to him so he can make the payment. Am looking for suggestions to make this transition as clean as possible.

As @supernovia mentioned above, the domain is owned by gracierosie and only they will be able to manage and renew it though their account. prairiephyre13 is an Administrator on the site but not the domain owner.

Do you mean gracierosie? If so, they can transfer ownership of the domain to your account with these steps:
We can move the plan over to your account if gracierosie replies here and confirms they are happy for us to do so but they will need to transfer the domain from their account.
Please advise whether I should wait for that information to come through instead of using the account recovery method?
Yes it was @gracierosie! She informed us she would be doing the transfer a few days ago, and still have not received any notice about the transfer. Do you know how long the process takes? Is it possible to confirm whether or not a ticket/work item for a domain transfer is in progress that had been requested by @gracierosie? If there are any issues holding up the transfer, I would then choose account recovery if it is quicker. We WANT to pay for the domain, and would like our website operational again as quickly as possible. Thank you!
A user-to-user transfer is instant – the domain/site owner clicks a button that says Transfer to user, they confirm, and you both receive emails that there’s been a change of ownership.
However, it looks like she started a site transfer without transferring the domain first, so it couldn’t proceed automatically.
We quite literally cannot transfer the domain for her – only her account has the ability to complete that action, and we’ve emailed her the instructions how to do that on Wednesday. We’re currently waiting for her to complete the process and reply to our email so we can then move ownership of the site itself as well.
So please ask her to check her inbox for a reply from us, and to follow the steps outlined in https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/#transfer-domain-to-another-administrator-on-the-site to complete the domain transfer.
It looks like she requested that the site ownership be transferred to the user
