how to use the theme forum

    Good day,
I have 3 questions regarding my Menu bar please.

    1. everytime I try to reorder ( so in other words when I edit and reorder the menu bar eg: home must come first, then blogs, etc, ) and I click save afterwards it stays the same in wrong order and does not save in the way I tried to edit and save it.

    2. When editing my Contact bar eg, putting in a contact number, again saving it but when I go back to my page it is not saved and there is no number, it did the same with the original comment section

    3. I am very new with all the tech savy words and descriptions, so pardon me if it has been mentioned, how do I get the different catogories under each icon in menu, eg: I have products in the menu bar, when you click on products I want subdevisions. products ~ baby Products, decor, etc and then subdevisions again under that as well.

    thank you dearly

The blog I need help with is inourshoesdaily.wordpress.com.

    Hey inourshoesdaily,

#1. It may be happening because of the browser cache and cookies. Please clear them and try again.

And it would be great to read this. https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

#2. On your contact page, you just have to add your phone number just like you add any text and update the page.

#3. First, create the categories and then you can add them to your menu just like you have added “Home, Contact, Blog” etc.

As you want to add your categories under “Products” just drag and shift it a slight right to nest it under the main “Product” category or page.

    Please check this screenshot. https://prnt.sc/isrdv5

    Hi there,

I’ll be happy to help you with the queries. Let me take them one at a time. :)

everytime I try to reorder ( so in other words when I edit and reorder the menu bar eg: home must come first, then blogs, etc, ) and I click save afterwards it stays the same in wrong order and does not save in the way I tried to edit and save it.

Are you publishing the changes correctly or just saving them? After making all the changes, we have to publish to reflect them on the website. Probably, you are saving them as a draft and hence, they are not getting published. Please see this support document: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/. It will help you in customizing the menu items and publishing the changes correctly. :)

When editing my Contact bar eg, putting in a contact number, again saving it but when I go back to my page it is not saved and there is no number, it did the same with the original comment section

Are you talking about the contact form? I see that you have already placed it correctly here: https://inourshoesdaily.wordpress.com/contact/.

The objective of the contact form is to get more engagement from your audience. The people coming to your website can connect with you using this form and fill their details here. You will get the notification on your email once someone fills this contact form and you can accordingly get back to them. You do not require to give your contact no. to create this form. It is for your audience. Here is the support document for contact form: https://en.support.wordpress.com/forms/contact-form/.

Moreover, if you wish to place your contact information like contact no., address, email, etc. you can do that by using the widgets (See this: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/). You can also embed the Google map guiding your audience to your physical address. Here is the support document for the same: https://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/.

Hey, it is absolutely fine to question same again and again. This forum is for help. :)

Your answer to this question again lies in the custom menu. You can definitely create sub-menu / drop-down menu items by a simple drag and drop. See this support document for detailed help: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/.

Hope the solutions are of help! Feel free to get back in case of any further questions. :)

@ravichahar, Oppsss… I didn’t refresh the page while replying so couldn’t see your response.

    Happy WordPress! :)

    Hi there,

To add to the above responses, regarding comments submitted on your site (this is different to the contact form), comments won’t automatically show up underneath the posts/pages where you submitted the form if the settings are such that they require moderation first. You can check comment settings by visiting Settings -> Discussion (from your My Sites tab). You may also receive an email notification about a new comment to the email address linked to the account of the author of the page or post where you’ve submitted the form.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you all dearly.

Firstly, thank you for the explanation on the contact bar, got it x

Secondly, regarding the other two questions:
Adding sub menu’s. I have tried to move the sub category to the right, they all still however save as their own menu options and not under products for instance.

I do save and publish after making changes but still it saves the same. Am I missing something very obvious?
Please see the screenshot, see on the left how i try to add sub categories and on the right how they have saved after numerous attempts to publish. I have cleared the browser cache as well.

Sorry can’t seem to upload the screenshot.

Nontheless, I have put all the sub divisions under products that I want to be in the tab when you click on products. I have moved them all to the right as you all also advised me to do, but on the main menu they are all individually showcased.

    #3087315

Looking at your site it looks like you have managed to work out the sub-menus for the different products and the sub-sub-menus (the menu items to the right of the sub-menus)?

If you still had questions around this feel free to ask and / or clarify the issue :)

    #3087319

    Thank you Karenlattfield,
I still couldn’t save it under sub and su sub divisions in buttons 2, even after trying everything possible, so I just chose a different theme option and it worked instantly.

Thank you all for all your help and advice

    #3087321

Happy to help! (I was still mulling over your buttons-2 theme sub-sub-menu issue though as it worked for me when I tried it. However if you’re happy with the new theme then that is great!)

    #3087322

Thanks Karen. I do prefer the buttons 2 theme but I have to get my site up and running asap.
I can always change it later when I am up and going. X
