    I am going to be very blunt; I am having issues on how to edit the HTML, PHP, and CSS(more importantly) on my ofmerandmen.wordpress.com site.

    I purchased the Custom Design package and when i go to customize my page and enter my CSS, nothing happens. People on the forum post about entering in HTML and CSS..but where do i do so? I have wordpress downloaded if that helps.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You.

    The blog I need help with is ofmerandmen.wordpress.com.

    Did you read this entire section prior to purchasing the upgrade?
    Custom Design Upgrade – Frequently Asked Questions

    Does the Custom Design upgrade let me edit HTML?
    No. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to edit fonts and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup, PHP code, or content. …

    When using the theme customizer please be sure you are using one of the browsers and versions found here http://browsehappy.com and also be sure you have enabled third party cookies. http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    See also > Where is the theme CSS and how do I edit it?

    Note there is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot upload any plugins at all. Moreover, none are need for CSS editing.

    Yes, but when entering my CSS in the customize section, nothing happens.

    If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

    Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

    If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:

    http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

    2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

    If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

    Welcome to Custom CSS!

    CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a kind of code that tells the browser how
    to render a web page. You may delete these comments and get started with
    your customizations.

    By default, your stylesheet will be loaded after the theme stylesheets,
    which means that your rules can take precedence and override the theme CSS
    rules. Just write here what you want to change, you don’t need to copy all
    your theme’s stylesheet content.

    If you need any further help, ask in the CSS Customization forum.

    Welcome to Custom CSS!

    Custom CSS allows you to apply CSS rules that override existing CSS rules for the page. The area that you are referring to is the correct place to add additional CSS rules. For example, if you add the following rule to the end of that field …

    img { border: 5px solid red !important; }
    … you should see a 5 pixel solid red box displayed around the images from your posts. Your CSS rules will either need to override the existing CSS of the theme or you’ll need to check the option that says “Don’t use the theme’s original CSS” and then apply all of the CSS rules you want yourself.

    Your theme’s original CSS is not supposed to appear within the section that you are referring to.

    The links timethief provided are great resources, and I’d recommend posting to the CSS Customization Forum if you need assistance with tweaking CSS rules to overwrite specific parts of your template. I have moved this thread to the CSS forum.

    When I am making adjustments to my CSS in the box, nothing shows up on the page. For example, the main issue i am having is attempting to change the BODY background color on my Twenty Ten theme. I wasn’t sure which code to edit so i found someone with the same issue as me and used the code they used, just switched the CSS color codes. But nothing is showing up.

    In a simpler way, can someone walk me through changing my BODY background color, not site background color/image on my twenty-ten theme?

    When you say “body” background color, are you talking about the white area behind the header image, content and sidebar? If so, the “body” background color would be outside of that area where you now have the image.

    The selector you want to use for the white area is #wrapper. Add this to your custom CSS and then edit the obnoxious green color I used as a placeholder.

    #wrapper {
        background: #33bb33;
    }
