spam hundreds in past 2 days, only 20 hits though. Thought, WORDPRESS ERROR….
Most actually look like they belog in two or three other blogs, they do not look like spam, just not for my blog!!!!!

2nd, why is there no real way to contact WORDPRESS???
Why post to community when a simple check by a Real WordPress employee would fix the issue!!!
why have to delete 200 + messages that are not really spam, they do not belong on my site !!!!!

wondering if I will get a real response ?
    Blog url:

The blog I need help with is

now 270 in spam, and only 30 showing visited..

    also no WordPress contact.. still

wondering at their HUG page.. crock

What’s the problem? If they’re going to the Spam filter, they will be automatically deleted.

…if you absolutely must delete the 270+ spam messages in your spam filter, and you can’t wait for the system to do it for you, there’s a button at the bottom of the page that reads “Empty Spam”. Click it.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

WordPress staff obviously do not care to even try …

Concerned actually that most of these seem like they are for 3 other blogs, so people are not getting their messages.
Thanks again, and I found the little empty spam button thanks. I also forgot they disappear by themselves, so thanks for that as well.

Hello! I have a similar problem: I have gone from very little spam, which I found in the spam queue, to claims of hundreds of spam from Askimet, but the spam queue claims there’s nothng to check on.. I have no way of checking what it is, or why I suddenly have so much spam arriving. Any ideas?

The vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. Over 80% of all comments submitted to blogs every day are spam. The worst of all spam containing malware and viruses is not sent to us. It’s removed as it could bring down many blogs if opened.

If Akismet has sequestered spam comments simply click “empty spam” button. If you get spam that slips by Akismet then mark it as spam (do not delete it) and over time Akismet will learn it’s spam.

On the spam that Akismet catches it takes only seconds to click “empty spam” and you don’t even have to click “empty spam” if you don’t want to. Akismet will maintain comments it has caught for 15 days from the time they were received, and then it will delete the comment automatically.

For more information please take the time to read “5 things every blogger should know about spam” on this page Akismet: How it works

    Note: also

Automatically close comments on articles older than __ days – This setting can be used to have comments closed on articles that are X days old. As an example, if you only want articles to accept comments for 30 days you would check the box and type 30 into the text field.

Askimet will eliminate known spam, so the spam count will always be higher than what you see.

Thanks for your prompt replies, I feel better now :-)
So if I understand correctly, I can be 100% confident in Askimet’s ability to net the bad guys without getting the genuine comments too, and I don’t have to worry about nothing showing up in my spam queue. Oof. I’m now off to find the “empty spam” button.
Thanks again, and have a good day!
