I am writing this from a hotel, having been displaced by the storm and not knowing when my home will be habitable again. I’m confused as to why Freshly Pressed would not be featuring blogs related to the storm. I must admit to feeling like a forgotten member of this community to not see any focus on a part of our country that is in significant pain right now. I hope someone will read this and begin featuring storm-related posts. I am interested in people’s experiences and am finding others are interested in mine. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is

    Hi again,
This is the second thread you have posted on this issue. is an international community and our hearts do reach out to those who suffer in natural disasters no matter which country they may be in.

However, we cannot use these support forum threads to promote our blogs and that’s very clear.

This particular Ideas forum is for making suggestions for feature and function improvements and additions to Staff. Please promote your blog posts in social networks where you will find many Hurricane Sandy reports and updates and posts being promoted.

I apologize for any confusion. I thought I was posting this in the correct place for feedback and ideas. It’s frustrating to not be able to find the proper place for that. Also, to clarify, it is not my blog I’m trying to promote. I am just trying to express confusion with the choices being made right now in a community that I enjoy being a part of. Also, could you kindly clarify who you are? It looks like you are also a member of the community, as I am. I’m just curious if that is the case or if you are writing as an employee of WordPress. I’m still learning about how all of this works so thanks for helping me out.

This is a community forum dedicated to helping users of the platform use our software.

Timethief is a long-time, very experienced, respected, and helpful forum volunteer.

Most of us, including me, are volunteers: that is why it is called a community forum. Staff looks in when there is a problem involving behind-the-scenes assistance. We volunteers advise about technical issues, but we cannot help with other topics.

We do not have a forum/section for blog promotion, nor for off topic (non technical) discussions. You can use your blog, and social media to discuss issues that you are personally concerned with.

As timethief noted, we are real people and of course we feel for folks who are experiencing difficult times due to wars, famines, politics, weather disasters, emotional problems, and all other hardships. It’s just that these forums are exclusively for technical advice.

If you have a technical question, please feel free to ask here for advice.
