I did, but now I can't view video. Only happening on WordPress, what's up?
I can view the youtubes on your blog. You may have a browser related issue. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
I did everything you suggested. Nothing worked. This is my latest Chrome
I am using Version 23.0.1271.97 m. My browser say I am up to date. I even tried IE with lasted version and I cannot see video, but only is this way on WordPress. I see my video on You-tube.
I also went to personal settings and x the box HTTPS, still nothing.
Also I went to down load Flash Player again though it did say I am running latest version. Again nothing.
Just to let you know I did up grade to win 8 Dec. 2nd, 2012. But I still was able to see my video in WordPress just until about 2 weeks ago, maybe less.
Hi Chef Randall,
I can see your videos just fine. The only thing I see changed about your blog about two weeks ago was your theme. This really shouldn’t affect videos streaming from YouTube, however.
So I see below that you cleared your cache – could you do that one more time? I’m sorry for the bother: Here is more information about how to do that:
Do you have another computer in the same house you can try? There might be something with your internet connection – if it is running slowly, perhaps.
Thank you for your patience!
Thanks for your reply. As for the theme…I really didn’t change it. Was just checking out other themes. I did clear my cache and no it is not the Internet connection. As I wrote in my question today as well as the beginning of January, I can see video just fine elsewhere on the Net including You Tube, Flickr, Sky Drive, Vimeo, and also on my Google’s group page. Put no here at WordPress.com. So the problem has to be with WP. I see video all over the web..but not on my page or anyone’s page on WP.com. I would like to get the Pro Bundle, to upload video to my blog. But how can I if I can’t see them?
PLEASE I say PLEASE find me a solution. Even at the request of “timethief” member on WP, she said dw load again my Flash Player, maybe out dated. I thought why?..If I see the video’s elsewhere just fine, how can it be flash player. But I went to redownload and Adobe said I have the latest Flash. But I still dw loaded. Same problem. Even ran my Spy bot to see if my PC had something on it just effecting me at WP. But again nothing.
So please, how much more do I have to write to let WP know I can’t see video on their site. My PC is fine , Internet connection is fine.
I just asked my son to go to my blog site with his laptop and we seen my videos just fine.
He said there must be something missing on my dash-board inside WP. Can you (support) think what that could be?
Look forward to your response.
Just to let you know. I ventured around support and found someone asking about adding pages to their blog. He added he seen this video. So I followed the link. Here it is http://wordpress.tv/2009/01/14/adding-an-about-me-or-any-other-static-page/ I linked over and I could see the video. But notice the address? It is wordpress.tv
Again the problem has to be with wordpress.com. As stated in last response possibly something is missing on my dash-board?
Hi Chef Randall,
Actually since your son can see your videos on your blog with his computer, and we can see them here, we know that it’s not a problem originating within WordPress but is much more likely to be a problem with your computer. If it were a platform-specific issue, no one would be able to see your videos, regardless of location, browser, or computer.
It’s possible this is a security setting on your computer, particularly since you just recently upgraded – Windows could have set a security setting after your installation that you aren’t aware of. Could you try temporarily disabling your security settings and see if you have any more success seeing your videos?
Thanks for your reply. To start…I can see video just fine all over the World Wide Net. BUT I CANNOT SE IT ANY WHERE ON WORDPRESS. Now, Why would my security settings only block video on WordPress? I upgraded on Dec.2,2012. It was about Dec. 17, 2012 when I started not being able to see video only on WordPress.
But because I want to solve this issue, I did disable my security settings. On Chrome the black box still remains..unable to see video. On IE no black box nor can I see the video.
The issue is on the WWN I see video just fine, the exception is I can’t see it anywhere on WordPress.
Going to enable my security settings now. Even my PC warned me not to do disable.
Per the other thread, could you take a screenshot and upload it to your media library? Thank you!
Here’s a bit more information about how to take a screenshot:
Great idea!! Will be sending it right away.
OK I uploaded 3 screen shots to my blog’s media library as kardotim asked. One is from my IE browser another from my Chrome browser and 1 from YouTube.
The two browser screen shots are of the same video and the You Tube is also. Notice though I can see it on You Tube.
Also to let you know I view for free cokeandpopcorn.eu episodes of The Big Bang Theory…I see the videos just fine. I see vidoe just fine all over the Web, but not here on WordPress.
Hi Chef Randall,
That’s helpful thank you!
Could you go to this link and tell me what it says?
It will help me rule out specific software issues.
zandyring I replied to your e-mail with a copy and paste of the website you sent me too. That is the information it displayed about my browser, operating system, IP address etc.
I’m not sure which email you’re referring to?
Miss understanding. I e-mailed you the screen shots. But referring back to your Jan.10,2013 reply you asked for them to be added to my media file at WP. I just uploaded them. There are 4 screen shots. Hope this will be useful to fix my problem.
Thanks Zandyring. again sorry for the mix up
I have a suspicion that this is related to Internet Explorer 10 and it’s new “Enhanced Protection Mode”. Can you try something for me? Please go to your site using Internet Explorer, and try following these instructions found here, to switch to “IE10 Desktop mode”:
Once you’ve done that, please let me know if you are able to see the videos.
I have a similar problem with all the embedded or linked YouTube videos on my WordPress site pages. The videos used to playback well on my pages until about last month when all I could see was an empty black frame in place of each of the embedded YouTube video placeholders, instead of a still image from the video. I am using an HP notebook from home. Please let me know of a solution. Thanks. …Marc
richardmtl..no your suggestion did not work.
Did you see contemplatingtruth a WP member entered the form here and states having the same problem?
I can see video with IE and Chrome just fine at other websites but not here at WP.org or WP.com.
So why do you guys continue to think it is something wrong with my browser or computer? I don’t feel like you are listening!!
I upload screen shots to my dash-board. If you have seen them you well note one is a shot from You Tube..seeing video just fine. Two are from my browsers IE and Chrome..seeing no video..chrome with a black box and IE a blank space. The fourth one is a shot on another blog in WP..seeing no video only black box.
