I don’t want a pingback to be visible on another WP blog. Is this possible?

I linked to another WP.com blog and now a pingback to my blog shows there and I was really hoping it wouldn’t. I went in to my settings and disallowed for blogs to be notified when I link to them, but apparently, if you link to another WP.com it’s an automatic pingback. Is there any way around this?

The blog I need help with is paperphan.wordpress.com.

Whether or not you link to another blog post in a post of your own is a choice that you make. Whether or not pingbacks are displayed on the blog posts you link on another blogger’s site is a choice the other blogger makes.

If you do not want to receive pingbacks when other bloggers link to your posts simply uncheck the box under the editor box whenever you compose a post.
Scroll down past “Excerpt” to “Discussion” and you will see:
    ___Allow Comments.
___Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.

Uncheck the latter and you’re done.

Also if you intend to be “anonymous” in the blogosphere that’s not possible. You can write under a pseudonym but doing so will still leave a digital bread crumb trail back to you and your blog. If your intention is to establish an maintain privacy online, then I recommend reading the articles linked to in this post: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2008/07/14/how-to-become-a-better-blogger-2-online-privacy/
