I thought I already did this.

I am signing up. I tried a domain name and it said it was available. I said I’d pay $18 to use the domain, and I said I’d pay the additional $8 for privacy. Now it is asking about mapping. I thought that was part of the package. I haven’t gotten to the credit card info yet.

The blog I need help with is opinionsandideas.wordpress.com.

We cannot help anyone who does not provide links to exactly what they are on about. Please do that now.
What is the URL starting with http:// of the domain in question?

Sorry. As I say, I have not even completed the sign up process. I do have http://opinionsandideas.wordpress.com and thought I had secured http://opinionsandideas.com, but then it asked if I wanted mapping, which I thought was included in the $18.

opinionsandideas.com, – has been registered since 2007 – looks like it is for sale if you have a pile of change

Odd. WordPress said it was available. I guess that settles that.

But now, I have a new problem. I used a friend’s computer to set up opinionsandideas as an identity. Now, when my friend logs on, his identity is gone. I mean, if he goes to WordPress, there is no such person. But if he goes to hs avatar, and gets to wordpress from there, the profile is intact. But every time he tries to post something, it is automatically put into my identity. And, as I say, when he tries to log on, as usual, WP says he doesn’t exist. Anybody got any ideas what to do?

He’s probably using the wrong username or email address to log in, but try clearing the browser’s cookies and cache first: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies
