I want to transfer a domain TO wordpress
I’m trying to get started with wordpress and have a domain through GoDaddy (expiring soon). I want to have everything in one place, so I want to transfer my domain to wordpress. I can find info on adding a new (un-owned domain) and on transferring AWAY from wordpress. Is it possible to transfer a domain to wordpress?
The blog I need help with is wheelertoppen.wordpress.com.
Hi. See here please:
Well, I saw that. But I was hoping to not just map my domain to wordpress, but actually manage it through wordpress. I really dislike the way Go Daddy treats women in their advertising, and I’m willing to pay more to not support them. So I wanted to switch to registering my domain through wordpress.
Do beware that there is advertising on all free hosted WordPress.com blogsm unless we purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade. WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.
@wheelertoppen – WordPress.COM can’t accept domain name transfers to them – once a domain name is registered outside WordPress.COM the name can’t be moved here – HOWEVER there are a lot of domain name registrars that will accept a domain name transfer to them – a couple of friends have used Name Cheap and so far so good.
Thank you– that’s exactly what I needed to know. I will now stop trying to do something impossible and find another option…
You be welcome
