I was charged $18 from WordPress.com without permission. I would like a refund please.
-
I want an $18 refund that was charged to my debit card without permission. Mind you that I didn’t sign up for any subscriptions, add-ons, upgrades, etc. This was the charge that showed up on my account statement:
Can you please help me.
Thanks,

What are the specifics please?
Which username account and site URL does this relate to?
Unfortunately, you failed to provide any details. Automattic Inc. https://automattic.com/ owns WordPress.com and other products like Akismet and VaultPress, etc. so this could be a charge related to one of them. It’s important to know that each charge is sent to the registered email address for each username account, so if you have more than one username account that could be confusing you. Also, if you have a wordpress.org account and a wordpress.com account that could be confusing you.
To address any and all billing issues like this one we can click https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/ and we can also use this form (which works even when the main contact form is closed): http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?whywasi=charged

Note that $18 per year was the previous charge for stand alone domain upgrades. I suspect you have purchased a domain through wordpress.COM and have not canceled the upgrade and disabled auto renew.
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account
You can manage all of your WordPress.com purchases by navigating to the Me section of WordPress.com and then choosing the option to Manage Purchases from the sidebar.
Select any purchase in order to view options for managing it. The options available will be different based on the upgrade you choose.
Canceling and Refunding Purchases

Hi Jaime –
I’ll be happy to help sort this out and process an eligible refund. The charge you mentioned did not come from the user account that you are signed in with now and posting to this forum under. What is the site address connected to the renewal?
We need to hear from you under the correct account to verify that you have access to it. There are 2 ways to then process the refund. Once you are signed in correctly navigate to wordpress.com/me/purchases/ and cancel the upgrade, this will automatically trigger a refund. The second option is to post back here from the correct account and I can take care of it.

Hey thanks for the super fast response, it’s much appreciated!
@Lizkarkoski: I don’t remember setting up another WordPress account subscription. That’s why I’m baffled as to receiving the $18 charge in the first place. If I can’t post back from the correct WordPress account, what are other ways that you can help me?

@timethief – Thanks for posting some valuable info with managing subscriptions and account information :)

Good Morning –
jaimejrios , you can recover the account with the transaction details here via the Account Recovery Form. Do not post them in this public forum.
After you submit the form we will follow up by email.

@lizkarkoski: Thanks so much for the help. I just submitted the account recovery details.
