I would like some input on how to make my blog more appealing. any ideas?

  1. Hi!

I just started blogging. I don't have a ton of followers. I am looking for some good advice on how to make my blog better. any advice? would love to hear from you!

The blog I need help with is

  2. You just started blogging ? Back in November 2010?

  3. You just put pictures of me on there.

  4. Why on earth would you want more followers. It's all fake you know. Just like the "i've got 5,000 friends on Facebook". Nobody ever reads anything, they just want you to follow them, so they also can put in their side bar how many followers they have. I think over 900 followers (which is what you have) would be quite a sizeable sum to most, and they'd be happy with that (i have one follower!!). Perhaps don't fib about being a new blogger too!

You do have a mass of images, and none of them are titled, so search engines have nothing much from you to index. Also you have one post (Paris) that seems to be highlighted text that is made up entirely of links. What is that? You need less images in a post, and more text, and you need to give titles to your images too.

  6. I have to say i agree with Joe. I was being flippant before just because timethief is not here to slap me! While the cat is away! The lack of titles for the images are definitely a problem if you want search engines to index you correctly. I still think you are doing ok with followers though and can't understand why you think you haven't got many. Your blog is more important than followers. Add more text with the images, and then more people might be inspired to follow. They need something to read, not just to look at.

  7. hmmh thanks for the input. When I said I am new to blogging I meant that yes i've had the blog a long time but i don't blog that much and my blog is kind of basic. I don't know all the extra frilly stuff u can do. And I thought i could get some ideas by posting on here to make my blog more appealing. so thank you. and yes I would love 1 million followers. Endorsement deals and bookings come with a following out here in la la land. And I love having this blog.

  8. Social netwroking is trctly give to get. Commenting on other blogs in the same niche yours is in is the best way of all to get traffic. Targeted traffic is what you want to focus on.

Targeted traffic is comprised of readers who know exactly what they are looking for. They look for keywords and search engine results are based on keywords found in their indexed content. Targeted readers are also looking for freshness as well as relevance and that's what search engines are aimed to deliver.

The first step for any blogger to take to establish a flow of targeted readers to their blog is learning and applying the use of basic SEO elements, so their posts and blog are actually accessible to potential readers, who use search engines. Provided you learn and apply the basics like using keywords and tags effectively and appropriately, you will receive targeted traffic from potential readers, who typed those same words and phrases into the search engines' search boxes.

The fact that targeted readers already have an interest in the content in your posts means they are likely to read more than one post, more likely to leave comments, and more likely to become regular readers/subscribers, vote your posts up on social networks (tweets & likes & diggs, etc.), and they more likely to recommend your blog to their friends.

On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. The support documentation is all found at the Support link which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.

  10. @thegiddygoat
I've got your number ;) but truth be told, I do not disagree with what you said.

  11. Write blogs about the things that you know a lot...:)

  12. Put pictures of Pete on there. Go with me on this one.

  13. Seriously. Pete sells.

  14. Need I say more?

  15. Ard rocks. ;)

  16. A good blog that attracts followers is one that has good content. Don't worry about 'extra frilly stuff' if you don't have well-written and informative text on a subject you know something about and an appropriate number of photos that support the text.

Top 3 post turn-offs for me (meaning I won't return).
    - too long
    - poor spelling/grammar/writing/logic/structure
    - too busy - too many photos or frill/fluff/cheesy quotes/links

Every blogger wants to attract followers to their blog. Attracting followers requires identifying your target audience, and creating quality content that engages them and encourages them to return to read more.

    Who is your target audience?
