I'd like to customize my Autofocus blog

  1. Hello!

I 've recently started my photography blog with the theme Autofocus. The design is just exactly what I am looking for, but there are many things I'd like to change/improve but I don't know how to do it.

    On the main page:
My page can only show up to 10 pictures (which is normal) but then, as soon as there is more than 10 pics, the old ones disappear from the page and it's impossible to get back to them. There is no possibility to go to the next or previous page for instance. I'd also like to add an "archive" button on the right that would archive all my articles per month.

    On each article page:
First of all, next to every picture, on the right hand site, there is a text that appears. I'd ike to remove it and just keep the tags. How do I do that?

Then I'd like to add on the right hand side a box that will clearly allow people to insert their email and subscribe to my blog. How can I do this?

Thank you very much for your help.

  2. On the main page:

You cannot use CSS editing to change anything except appearance. It cannot be used to change how any theme is designed to function.

Does the Custom Design upgrade let me edit HTML?
No. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

    On each article page:
    First of all ...

Note: In some cases the metadata is all under the same selector and if your remove one you remove all.

  3. Then I'd like to add on the right hand side a box that will clearly allow people to insert their email and subscribe to my blog. How can I do this?

The theme is not designed to have have a right hand sidebar. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/autofocus/
These themes are two column themes http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/two-columns/

You can set up email subscriptions here > Appearance > Widgets > Follow Blog Widgets by using this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/

If you would like a follow button to appear on the bottom right hand corner of your site for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts go to > Settings > Reading and scroll down to Follower Settings:

These settings change emails sent from your blog to followers.
Logged out users __ Show follow button to logged out users.

Checking this will present a follow button to logged out users in the bottom corner of their screen.

You can customize the contact form with multiple fields, change the email address where you'll be notified, and mark feedbacks as spam from your dashboard. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
