IE8 suddenly modifying my Garland home page layout.

  1. IE8 is corrupting my theme's layout. Firefox displays my blog pages as they've been for 3.5 years. IE8, however, now moves all widgets to the left column; moves the Archives and Meta to the bottom of the posts being displayed (presently just 1 displayed for my attempts to find the cause); and I can no longer pull down a menu from the banner to enable quick access to the dashboard. IE8 caches purged. Infinity scrolling cancelled. Why, why, why does this stuff happen? Can anything be done about it. Please don't suggest just using Firefox as I've seen suggested here. It worked fine with IE8 and I need to continue that capability.
