If I change my blog name, will it mess up my domain forwarding?

  • I want to change my blog name (i.e. from “joeschmoe.wordpress.com” to “happyfeet.wordpress.com”), but I have set up paid domain forwarding on that blog (i.e. when you go to “www.happyfeet.com” it jumps to “joeschmoe.wordpress.com”). Does anyone know if that will get screwed up if I change the blog name? I would hate to have to go through the process all over again and possibly pay another $12.

  • It sounds like you are confusing Blog Titles and Blog URLs. You can change your Blog Title on this page at any time > Settings General Changing the Blog Title does NOT changed the URL. The URL of the wordpress.com root blog your are domain mapping to the domain remains the same if you change the Blog Title.

  • Actually I DO want to change the blog URL – the current one doesn’t fit with what the new content is. I know how to change the blog title and have done that.

  • If you change the URL then the domain forwarding should still work. The upgrade applies to that blog, not to the URL specifically.
