I have a facebook badge that is in iframe. How do I add it to the side, under the recent post. I see a Text/html widget, it wont take. Any ideas? I am using a hosted account.

Iframes, scripts, and flash (among others) are stripped out at WordPress.com for security reasons. You cannot add the standard Facebook badge; you can get a Facebook icon and copy a link to the page and put those both in a text widget, but it will not update dynamically. If you want/need something that will, you’ll have to have a completely public profile and put the RSS feed for that in an RSS widget in your sidebar.

We can’t use iframes at wordpress.com for security reasons.

Would I be able to if I put WP on my domain?

    #500443

If you registered a domain name, hired a web host (godaddy, bluehost, etc.) and installed the software from wordpress.ORG, yes.

Do note that just buying a domain name and mapping it to your blog here does not exempt you from the restrications and terms of service. They would still apply. You have to move off of wordpress.COM.

One last question. Is there a sql back up I can download so I dont have to start over on my .com WP?

Go to tools > export and it will export all your posts, pages, categories, comments, tags to a file on your computer that you can then import into the new wordpress blog from tools > import.

    Hello there,
    Dashbaord > Tools > Export
WordPress will create an XML file for you to save to your computer. This format, which we call WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR, will contain your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags. Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use the Import function on another WordPress site to import this site.
