Images in Archives : Custom Sandbox Theme
So I found this theme from the Sandbox contest and fell in love with it, but there’s one thing I haven’t been able to figure out.
In my archives, the photographs and images from the original posts don’t show up, you have to click the link to the original post to see the images.
You can see what I am talking about here:
Is there a way to change this?
As far as i know the archive & category pages in the Sandbox theme are coded in a way that only shows a preview of the post’s content. Without images or links, sadly.
I don’t think there is a way to change this with just CSS.
Anybody please correct me if i’m wrong.
I am no expert, but I believe you are correct.
Yeah, I kind of lost my enthusiasm for Sandbox as an option here when I found that out. (On a self-hosted blog, of course, it’s easy to fix.) On the one hand, it’s too bad that WordPress.com can’t give users the power to change things like how archives and categories display for any theme, but on the other hand, I guess there’s something to be said for respecting the theme author’s vision.
sonofbruce – since we are on a shared platform, they can’t give you access to change that stuff because it would change it for everyone using the same theme. That being said, yes, they do like to stay with the author’s vision but if you can convince them that everyone else would support a change, they might implement it.
I asked on the sandbox forums and they pointed me in the right direction. If I copy the original post code into the optional excerpt field all the images and html aren’t stripped in the archives/categories pages. it is only one more step when writing posts and the pages look like I wanted them to.
Ah, that’s a nice workaround. I wasn’t aware of that. Good to know.
