Imbalance2 - header, footer and page settings

  1. Hello,
First of all thank you for taking time for me. As you can see I have several issues with the customization of my theme Imbalance2.
    1- My header
Even if looked through the forum several CSS solutions, none of them provide me a center header background image. So if someone can help me with that I will be very please because I am kind of desperate about that.
    2- My footer
Thanks to the forum I managed my customized footer as I wanted, however now I would have the same visibility on all pages of my blog.
    3- Other pages
I let just 1 page available right now, like it you could see what I am talking about, which is "Life is SD". I would like per page to provide an harmonized gallery of articles per sub-topic. Here there are:
    - "SD: information et coups de coeur" with 1 article
    - "Notre installation" with 3 articles
    - "La tĂȘte dans les projets"...
    - "Les environs"...
For 1 article I would like to have 1 picture - the name and both linked to the article.

I spent hours looking for those things. I am kind of desperate now. So if have any suggestions I will be pleased to try them.

    Regards,
    Noemie

The blog I need help with is cetnadventure.com.

  2. 2- My footer
Thanks to the forum I managed my customized footer as I wanted, however now I would have the same visibility on all pages of my blog.

Your footer widget area looks the same to me as it does on the posts page on every individual post and category page that I checked, and on the static page "Life in San Diego." Where isn't it displaying as you would like?

I would like per page to provide an harmonized gallery of articles per sub-topic. Here there are:
    - "SD: information et coups de coeur" with 1 article
    - "Notre installation" with 3 articles
    [etc.]

To link each of those sub-topics to a select group of posts (the number of posts is irrelevant) in a specific category, just create text links to category pages. A category page is an archives page automatically created by creating a post, and adding a new category to the post.

Some of the category pages you need to link to are already present in your categories widget in the footer area.

Other categories still need to be added:
For example, the category page for the subcategory "San Diego: Infos et coups de coeur" might be http://cetnadventure.com/category/life-in-san-diego/san-diego-infos-et-coups-de-coeur. This category page will be automatically created by adding the category "San Diego: Infos et coups de coeur" to a post and making the category a subcategory of the category "Life in San Diego."

  3. Thank for your reply. I am going to try.

  4. Ok but my issue remains the same, on the page "Life in San Diego" I want:
or images with title of subcategories. Like it when i click on it, it brings me to the dedicated subcategory page. Also I created a category of links named "Life in SD" to add it into the page "Life in SD" but i don't find a way to add it....
or the subcategory name and below gallery of all posts related to that subcategory.

Text and images can each be linked to any valid URL. How to create text links is described in the Links support page. For some reason the Image Links support page only describes how to create image links at when you are adding media to a post/page. Image links from images already embedded in a post or page are made essentially the same way as text links, the main difference being instead of highlighting text in you click on the image before clicking on the Insert/edit link tab.

Also I created a category of links named "Life in SD" to add it into the page "Life in SD" but i don't find a way to add it....

Links in specific link categories may be displayed in your blogroll or links widget. I don't believe there is a dynamic shortcode that will display all links or specific categories of links in a page or post. What you can do is display the links in the sidebar, copy the links in the category "Life in SD," and paste that into the page.

...or the subcategory name and below gallery of all posts related to that subcategory.

This can be accomplished with a drop-down custom menu. Custom menus can be primary or secondary menus. The primary menu is typically in the header area. Custom menus can also be displayed in a widget. Since, as far as I know, drop-down menus aren't supported in posts or pages on the WordPress.com platform -- at least I've never figured out how to created them -- you could display the menu in a custom menu widget, copy it, and paste it into a page.

  6. Forgot to provide a link to the Custom Menus support page.

  7. ...or the subcategory name and below gallery of all posts related to that subcategory.

Not sure what you mean by "gallery" in this instance. WordPress.com gallery images can not presently be linked to URLs. Clicking on a subcategory name to activate the display of a group of image links below it is pretty advanced. That might be WordPress.org territory. However, you could easily link text to any valid URL, including a category page.

  8. You may also use tables to create linkable grids of images linking to posts.

  9. ...or the subcategory name and below gallery of all posts related to that subcategory.

Another option is Display posts shortcode. This shortcode won't create a grid of images, but it may be customized give you image and title links, in a chosen order, to a specified category of posts. The following example shortcode will display all posts ("-1" means all) of the specified category, ordered by title (alphanumerically), thumbnail images, and published dates. The images and the titles will link to the posts.
    [display-posts category="life-in-sd" posts_per_page="-1" include_date="true" order="ASC" orderby="title"]

  10. For subcategories:
Just change the category argument in the display posts shortcode category="life-in-sand-diego" to a subcategory, e.g. category=notre-installation.
