Import from Xanga, where?
Hi I tried importing from Xanga and got a confirmation that the WordPress import was successful. However I cannot find the imported contents anywhere. Can you please help? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is livininoilcountry.wordpress.com.

Thanks so much timethief :)
You should have received multiple export files from Xanga that you will need to import individually.
For more information on how to do the import, please see:
Thanks jackiedana. Yes I downloaded 3 XML files from Xanga and imported each in WordPress. After that, I received email that the import has been successful but then I do not see anything different.
The last post I see on the site linked to above is “Spring Shoes” from March 11, 2010. Is this not the latest post you imported?
It’s possible that the export from Xanga.com was unsuccessful.
Can you tell me the sizes for each of the three .xml files? If you open them within a text editor (Notepad or Text Edit) do you see your content embedded within a bunch of code?
If all three of the files seem empty, you may wish to contact Xanga for assistance. Otherwise, if you have a Dropbox or similar account and can upload the .zip folder to share with me, I’d like to take a look at the files myself. You can post that here or you can send me a link via email with #319413-f in the subject line.
I do not see an email from you, from the email address associated with your account.
However, I have not seen reports from people with smaller imports from Xanga that had issues with the import, other than occasionally the importer freezing up and needing a reset.
Please try downloading your export file from Xanga.com again, and try importing each of the files again, in order, to see if it works this time. Note that some files might come in as private, or might show up in your trash (if the system sees them as a duplicate).
I see your email now, and I just tested your import files. Everything seems to be in order, so you should try importing your content again by importing each of the three files in the .zip folder.
Note that the posts might end up in the trash if WordPress.com sees them as duplicates, but you can restore them easily.
Hi, thanks for the reply.. I have been trying to figure it out but I can’t seem to find where the trash is.. Can you let me know?
Hi there – Your Trash won’t show up unless there’s anything in it, and currently there’s not. Did you try the import once more, and did your missing content come through this time?
If it still didn’t come through, let us know.
Hello, yes I tried to import it again and it still doesn’t show up. Please help? Thank you :)
Hi there – I’ll try it on my end. Can you please confirm which of your blogs you want the content imported into?
Thank you so much I truly appreciate it. Twenty South – livininoilcountry.wordpress.com please?
Hi there – I’m running the import now, but it doesn’t look like it’s working for me either. I will ask our developers to take a look at this for you.
Yes, I received the notification e-mail. Thank you so much for looking into this.
Hi there – Looking more closely at your import files, I don’t think they contain any additional content beyond what’s already appearing on your blog. If you open up the second file, it’s posts from 2007-2008. Note that a number of those posts are marked private:
If there’s still content that was on your Xanga site that’s missing from the export files, can you please try exporting from Xanga again?
Hi, thank you! Yes those posts were contents of my Xanga blog.
Now, I had a bunch of photos on that site as well. Do they get imported anywhere on my wordpress blog? Thanks.
Hi there – I’m so sorry, I missed your reply somehow. Do the images from your old site appear in your Media Library here:
