import subscribers to new blog
I just moved my wordpress.org blog (self-hosted) to a wordpress.com blog using the import/export feature. It moved the posts and comments. But the subscribers and site stats did not get imported. Is there any way to get the subscribers to move to my wordpress.com blog? And stats? My domain name has remained the same: evanatiello.com
The blog I need help with is www.evanatiello.com.
This thread is flagged for Staff attention.
evanatiello.com is definitely hosted at wordpress.com. I also paid to have the domain mapping so that I could keep my url: evanatiello.com (without having my url change to evanatiello.wordpress.com) but everytime I type in the evanatiello.com it goes to my blog but quickly changes to evanatiello.wordpress.com in the address box. Is there any way to change that? so that it just reads evanatiello.com? I guess I thought that’s what I was paying the additional $ for.
THanks so much for any help you can provide. I appreciate it.
In order for the evanatiello.com domain name to show up, you’ll need to change your primary domain from evanatiello.wordpress.com to evantiello.com. You can do that here:
As for the subscribers, did you have the Jetpack plugin installed on your “old” blog?
Yes, I believe that I did have the Jetpack plugin installed on the “old” blog.
I will try the other suggestion you had for me regarding the domain name.
Thanks for your help, I hope there’s a way to get my subscribers, I’ll keep my fingers crossed, Eva
OMG Coffeeman, you are a certifiable genius! I changed my primary domain name, and poof! it worked like a dream.
Can’t thank you enough. Ok, one down, one to go. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the lost “subscribers”. Best, Eva
I don’t know what you mean by lost subscribers. Followers using the WordPress.com Reader cannot be transferred. Only your email subscribers can be transferred by Staff. Also note that stats cannot be transferred.
yes, they were email subscribers. Is there a way to transfer the email subscribers? Thank you.
You must install and activate the JetPack plugin on your WordPress.org install. Then Staff will transfer the email subscribers from evanatiello.wordpress.com for you to evanatiello.com for you.
I have just moved my blog from wordpress.org to wordpress.com, so I don’t believe I can install the jetpack plugin on wordpress.org any longer, since I have “closed” that blog and deactivated my fatcow hosted blog. I wanted to move the email subscribers I had on my .org over to my .com. I’m sorry if I didn’t explain that correctly before.
PS. even though my blog has the url evanatiello.com it is a wordpress.com blog, I paid the extra fee (for mapping) so I could keep that url.
I have transferred your subscribers as requested.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
macmanx, I can’t thank you enough. Rock on.
