Importing Comments from Blogger

  1. I made the switch yesterday, and imported all of my posts and comments. It seemed to work fine. The problem is that none of the comments are showing up on any posts. It will tell you which post they're supposed to be on, but when you go to that particular post, there are zero comments.

Is there a way to fix this?

  2. When you look at Dashboard -> Comments, are they listed there?

  3. They are listed there. Whenever I click on "View Post" however, it takes me to the first post I published from wordpress (though the only comments showing up on that post are the actual comments for that post). It does that for all 1000+ comments.

  4. That is strange because we have another thread here that the poster says they didn't import at all.

I'd go ahead and send in a feedback (Upper right hand corner of your dashboard) on this one. Sounds like they didn't get linked somehow.

  5. Hmmm, well I lied. Kind of. They're all imported. Maybe about half (the oldest half) imported properly. The other half isn't linked to any post at all. And the first page of comments has them all linked to the first post I made through WP...though they aren't showing up there because they're not really comments for that post.

That probably doesn't make any sense at all.

Thanks for the help, I will send feedback.

  6. I'm having a similar problem. I was able to import all the old posts with their respective comments from Blogger, then I got new comments on one of those old posts still on Blogger, which I tried to import to WP but they won't appear on the said post. I see them on the Comments tab though, but without permalinks. It just leads me to the main blogpage.

  7. Create a test blog and re-import everything. If it works, export it all from your dashboard and send in a feedback asking if they can delete everything on your main blog (not the blog itself, just the content). Once that's been done, you can import the WP xml file from your test blog and everything should work fine and then you can delete the test blog.

At least, that's how it worked for me.

  8. Thanks for the help dear. The thing is though, I haven't cancelled my Blogger yet so when I get new comments there, I plan to move them all to my new WP blog, but I can't get the new ones to link to the posts. I've sent a feedback on this.
