It sounds like you are asking to have Staff reset the importer for you. Staff can do this for you. I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

I have reset your importer for you. You can try your import again at any time.

If you continue to have trouble with this, please let me know what kind of export file you have, where your blog was before, and how large a file it is.

my backup file is 307kb, which I think is probably far too big. What my intention was, was just to rename my blog – currently it is chloeeleanor.wordpress.com, so I wanted to move all content to wedevour.wordpress.com. Is there an easier way just to change the url of chloeeleanor?
Ideally, I’d like to move the whole blog to a .co.uk domain but I don’t have the tecchy skills!

    Thanks Jackiedana :)

Once a WordPress.com address has been claimed, such as wedevour.wordpress.com, you cannot use that address to rename an existing site.

It’s not too difficult to purchase and use a custom domain. This document explains the process. You can register a .com domain or several other options with WordPress.com, although if you want to use .co.uk you will need to find a domain registrar that provides those (a google search for ‘domain registrar .co.uk’ will give you many options there). From there, you just need to purchase domain mapping with us, and work with your domain registrar to update nameservers to point to WordPress.com (and most of them will have documentation on how to do that).

If you prefer, I can assist you in transferring your site content, but note that you will need to set up your theme and other settings on your new site, as only the actual content will transfer over.
