Hi, I currently have a WordPress.com blog in conjunction with my business’ website. I am thinking of merging the two and moving everything to WordPress. My question/concern is that I currently have 1300+ subscribers via my website (not wordpress blog) which I would like to move to the new/upgraded WordPress blog. I don’t want to have to ask all 1300 to re-subscribe, is there a way to import/transfer these e-mail addresses from my previous site to WordPress? Even if I can do it through manual entry, that would be fine.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The blog I need help with is thezonemag.wordpress.com.

Staff can move your subscribers from your WordPress.com blog into any WordPress.org install, provided you install and activate the JetPack plugin and provide them with both URLs.

The e-mail addresses would not be coming from a wordpress site. They would be coming from my Vertical Response account. I would like to move everything to WordPress.

When you say “WordPress” exactly which one do you mean please? There are two and they are completely separate. Read this comparison so you are clear on the differences between free hosted WordPress.com blogs and self hosted WordPress.ORG installs > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you are referring to http://thezonemag.wordpress.com/ there is no way to import your subscribers list into that blog that I am aware of.

My current site is a wordpress free site. That is unfortunate that WordPress does not offer a way to enter/transfer/input e-mail addresses. I really like WordPress and would like to move all of my business to the site but if I can’t bring my followers then that may be the deciding factor to find another site. Is there away to confirm this with someone on staff or any suggestions for how I could handle this?

    Thanks again.

Hi there, as timethief mentioned, we don’t provide a way to import email addresses from third-party email marketing services. We aren’t set up technically to replace standalone email marketing services, and we also need to ensure that all recipients have given explicit permission to receive your mailings, and the only way we can do that is if they signed up through WordPress.com directly.

You are always welcome to keep your current Vertical Response email marketing system, and link to the signup form from your WordPress.com site.

If you have any other questions, just let me know.
