    Using the customizer to not display the meta fields of entries, such as author name and date, the field is removed but the width of the icons is still there.

    The blog I need help with is www.kevinmamaqi.com.

    Hi,

    What is the address (URL) of the site you are referring to?

    The site https://www.kevinmamaqi.com/ isn’t a WordPress.com site. The hosting provider is SiteGround, so it looks like you have a self-hosted WordPress.org site. We can’t provide support for WordPress.org sites in this forum.

    If you’re referring to that site, please contact your hosting provider directly for help, or submit your request to the WordPress.org support forums. If you haven’t already done so, you can register here: https://wordpress.org/support/register.php, to use the WordPress.org support forums.

    The theme is activated via Jetpack. The original theme is different.

    I see that the author of the original Independent Publisher theme and Independent Publisher 2 has evidently referred WordPress.org users of Independent Publish 2 to the WordPress.com support page for the theme, https://wordpress.com/theme/independent-publisher-2/support, but this is unusual in my experience on these forums. Ordinarily, all questions regarding WordPress.org sites are referred to the WP.org forums. Among the reasons for this is that WordPress.com staff doesn’t have access to WP.org sites.

    I’ve called for staff attention to the topic. What do you mean by “the width of the icons?”

    Hi @kevinmamaqi, sorry on the confusion. A bug report has been filed on this issue, but in the meantime, add the following custom CSS to remove the .byline and .cat-links divs.

    .entry-meta .byline, .entry-meta .cat-links {
      display: none !important;
    }

    You can add the above at Customize > Additional CSS.

    Hi @kevinmamaqi!

    We’ve also tracked down the cause of this issue in the theme and deployed a fix. You should get a prompt in WordPress letting you know that a new version is available.

    For further questions regarding this theme on a self-hosted site, you can post in the WordPress.org general themes forum:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/themes-and-templates

    Tag your post with wpcom-theme in the tags area to be sure it will get attention:

    You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/register.php

    Be sure to provide a link to your site when you post so folks can help you more easily.

    Thank you for reporting this issue!
