Infinite Scroll – Basic Footer
The answer is “no” if you are referring to the pop-up when infinite scroll is implemeneted. Staff have been introducing “infinite scroll” to themes — a site wide change. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/to-infinity?replies=137
See here for Disabling Infinite Scroll on your WordPress.com Blog http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/03/16/disabling-infinite-scroll-on-your-wordpress-com-blog/
Note that “disabling” the feature (when you use footer widgets) simply changes it from loading automatically to loading via the “Load More Posts” tab, and you can’t disable that without the Custom Design upgrade.
@seafalconer, we did put some thought into the footer to try to make it present but not overwhelming. I would be interested to hear if you have any specific feedback about why the footer is putting you off.
@designsimply – it’s the fact it shows the theme etc on the footer – not sure why that should be there? Also not clear what it actually does for the user – the users that have picked up on it where initially of the opinion “there’s something wrong with the view, I’m getting a “ghost” of something at the bottom of the page”.

Those are there to give credit to the theme developers and WordPress.com which provides the hosting. Having footer credits present is a requirement for all WordPress.com, including VIP blogs.
We’re looking at all the feedback about the footer, and we’ll continue to make improvements when we can find solutions that fit the infinite scrolling feature together with the footer. Thank you for posting your feedback about it.
If you had the Custom Design upgrade, you would be able to remove the thing and transfer the credits to the sidebar.
