INove theme question

I was going to start a new blog using INOVE theme. Those who know of my slow progress may wish to advise whether I should even attempt this at this point. I has proven to be a brick wall right from the beginning so what I was wondering is there any help on it besides it’s “see it in action” page which really doesn’t help.

This I suppose could be a question for all themes really. When I find a new one I want to try, what’s the best avenue to learn how to use it beyond seeing what others have done with it without any instructions on how to do what you are seeing.

    Thanks

Oh here’s the blog but I really haven’t got anywhere with it yet. http://schizopoetic.wordpress.com

The blog I need help with is psychpoet.wordpress.com.

May I suggest you do what a lot of us do, and that is get yourself a separate blog, make it private so that only you can see it, and use it as a test blog for all the themes you want to learn about? That way you can take your time, experiment with the settings for each theme and change what you like and, if you feel you’ve mucked anything up, nobody other than you will be any the wiser! :) Many of us here have test blogs.

Every blogger needs a test blog
You can register as many free blogs as you wish at WordPress.com and then use them as you wish. Once you have registered a test blog and set the visibility to “private” to keep out search engines, you make it into an exact replica of your main blog AKA a “mirror blog” and use it for testing themes, lay-outs , widgets, and any other new items you are considering adding to your main blog.

The benefit of having such a test or mirror blog is you will feel no sense of urgency or concern when testing other themes and items because your readers will still be viewing the main site. After testing you can switch to your main blog, select the theme you have tested, click the “activate” button, and reinstall widgets in moments.

TT that’s OK I may need it twice :) I haven’t the time to read these just now but will tonight. Thanks.

The main question was about that particular theme but I guess for any theme. I can’t seem to even get to square one with that one.

Others have accomplished this alone. You are receiving lots of hand holding support form absurdoldbird, who also uses Imblanace 2. Read everything more than once and work through each step slowly. Not to worry you will master this.

Yikes! I just realized this is an iNove thread and not an Imbalance 2 thread. This article by thesacredpath may be helful > Review of the WordPress.com iNove theme

I’m beginning to get the impression my posts are not wanted. I shall stop them then

Wait. I don’t see the logic of that. Why should I stop them altogether. IF you wish not to participate in them, then can you just chose not to do so? After all you have reminded me many times you’re a volunteer. If you don’t wish to help me in what you consider “hand holding” when I need information to at least know something and don’t see how I could know how all this operates without having some way to know ahead of time, then can you simply not do so?

I ‘m thinking about this and the Tagging of being considered excessive if over ten. How would I have known that before hand. I assumed the more the better but now that I know there’s no problem with reducing them.

Some times you can’t pull information out of your…..
you have to know some how.

where are you finding all these links? I do look everywhere I know to before posting a help request.

as far as the Imbalance2 and Elegant Grunge themes, I have figured out all I really need to with those and they’re doing find except my posts are showing where tagged but then I guess that’s my fault for not knowing ahead of time that WP regards more than 10 tags excessive. That’s solved now that I know now.

I just found this new theme and was having issues with the Theme options page and couldn’t find the page on instructions for the theme. You’ll recall earlier in the thread I believe that was my question. Where I could find that and where are they for basically all the themes because I looked and could only find what was provided with the theme in the theme showcase. That basically only shows what others have done with it though. Unless I didn’t look well enough but I thought I had.

I don’t want to get into justifying why I’m here though so what should I do then? leave? I don’t see why I should have to. If a person that is a volunteer doesn’t want to engage a particular question then can’t they just do that. Why would they want to remark if another volunteer chose to respond? I don’t know what that’s about either.

we can let this subject drop then. I have some themes I can use for now so no worries. I just won’t explore too much with the others unless I can figure them out on my own.

Thanks for letting us know the issues we addressed here have been resolved. best wishes no matter what you decide to do.

@cyberator. In her defense, Timethief is a very experienced blogger who has her own blog for helping new bloggers and who has been helping on these forums for years so she knows where to find the links. (She’s a darn sight better at it than I am!)

And no – you’re not to know these things, how could you?

But I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough time to learn how to use WordPress. It’s not the easiest bloghost (though for instance Blogger which most people find easier, I found more difficult.)

What we tend to do here is apply ourselves to questions that we think are within our area of experience. So if someone thinks they can’t help you, they won’t answer.

I responded to the second part of your question: “This I suppose could be a question for all themes really. When I find a new one I want to try, what’s the best avenue to learn how to use it beyond seeing what others have done with it without any instructions on how to do what you are seeing,” but as I’ve never used the INove theme I can’t answer the specifics of the first part of your question.

And Timethief (who, like most of us – you too, I’m sure – has a lot on her plate in ‘real life’) was just doing her best.

Maybe cut us a bit of slack? And maybe we’ll try to cut you some too.

In the meantime – you’ve got a great blog, interesting poems, some great ideas – why ruin it by letting anyone else influence you? Just take your time.

well the INove themse issue hasn’t been resolved. I’m just getting the impression it’s not wanted that I be helped any further on it.

    #825316

I’m sure that’s not the case. Just do things in your own time.

Looks like I ran into the posting simultaneously thing this time. Last comment was meant for Timetheif.

I would explain why I’m a bit anxious to finally get my stuff out there but it would take a lot of typing and probably wouldn’t be wanted here anyway. I’ve been very snake bit in that area for quite some time and if it seems I’m anxious it’s only because of that history that you would have no way of knowing about.

I’d be glad to resolve it for you here and now. Exactly what is problematic for you about the iNove theme please?
