Why don't inserted links show up when I publish a blog post?

I had this exact problem the other day. I inserted a link to a different website, and I wanted it to simply say “here”. Instead, there was a blank space where that was supposed to be when I went to preview. SOmeone from WordPress fixed it for me in my post. However, it has happened again. I need to know how to make this work. I can’t take the time to contact support every time a link doesn’t show up.

My process is this: I hit the “link” button. The little form pops up. I insert the website link and then I name it. (Today the name is “here”) Then I hit the button to insert it. It should work, right? Well, the code appears in my draft. But when I go to my preview, there is a blank space.

Help!! Tell me how to fix this!

When you add a link make sure you highlight the text that you want to add a link to. Then when you click the link icon, enter the URL that you want to link to.

The hyperlinked text is whatever text you highlighted before clicking the link button (it is not the title). The title of the link will show up when a visitor hovers over it (a small tooltip will appear with the title). The title isn’t the text that you want to add a hyperlink to.

We have an excellent support guide to walk you through adding links. Please check out http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/ .
