Inserting images into post

I have a photo that i have added to my media library. I now want to insert it into my post. However when i click insert media and go to media library to choose the image, there is nothing there. No thumbnails or anything. The only thing is the insert to post button. I have also tried deleting the image from the media library and uploading the image directly from my computer. Still absolutely nothing. i have tried disabling my browser’s plugins but still no luck. I am using the twenty eleven theme on firefox browser. I have also tried it on internet explorer and my ipad. the exact situation arises across all browsers and platforms.

Hi, no one has responded to this and i haven’t been able to resolve the issue
please help. i have done all of the above plus emptied cache. i am using wordpress.com through a vpn as i am in china. does anyone know if this could be part of the problem. i am just getting a blank everywhere i look. i have no knowledge whatsoever of coding html etc and thought that using wordpress.com would be a straight forward process for the newbie
