Install Comic Press, HELP!
I recently (about 2 minutes ago) started a Word Press Blog with the intention of posting my comics here. I have downloaded the Comicpress “theme” but I have no idea how to implement it at all. I’ve tried reading the directions in the ReadMe File, but I don’t understand it at all. It tells me to “Install ComicPress 2.9 into a directory called “comicpress” in lowercase in your theme directory”, I have no idea what that is talking about.
I could really use some help here, I want to start publishing my comics soon.
The blog I need help with is georgeandpinhead.wordpress.com.
The blog linked to your username is a free hosted WordPress.com blog. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs like the one linked to your username and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.
On free hosted wordpress.COM blogs we can only use the themes which have been coded to run on this multi-user software and made available to us here. > Appearance > Themes and no others.
Well, I am more than disappointed, because I don’t have the money to pay for a custom theme…
Even buying the upgrade won’t allow you to add external themes. There are quite a lot of themes for photoblogging here, and one of them might do well for you.
I eventually want to make this WordPress blog my own personal website.
What steps do I have to take in order to make this site my own, so I can do whatever I wish with it?
What about if I already have a web host and own the blog? How do I implement the ComicPress into my “theme directory”?
If you have your own web host and have set up a WordPress.org install then you go to the top right hand corner of this page http://wordpress.org/support and register a username account. Then you post only to that support forum for assistance.
