Internal CSS overriding External CSS

I am having major problems. The themes I download have an external ss and an internal style sheet. I have made changes to both to get the desired result on my local machine. However, it says we can only make changes to the external sheet but we can’t alter the HTML source code, where the internal ss lies.

How do I get around this?! It is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, if you are using downloaded themes, then you are in the wrong forum and need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported.

These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently and our answers typically will not work for you.

If you do not know the difference, see this support document: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .
