Invalid Request

  1. After 2 successful blog posts I now get "invalid request" when I try to publish. Why?

The blog I need help with is

  2. Hi deansshots,

    Which browser are you using?

  3. These are the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
clearing your browser cache and cookies >
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version)
confirming third party cookies is enabled
    confirming JavaScript is enabled
confirming Flash is updated and if required installing the latest version of Flash
resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see
    trying another browser

I'm having the same issue over the past week (only sometimes, not all the time), and I'm using Firefox.

  6. @deansshots
Which version of IE are you using? If it's IE9 and you are running in compatibility mode that reduces the browser function to IE7 and IE7 is no longer supported.

  7. @justinejohnsonphotography
Which version of Firefox are you using please? If you don’t know click here to find out >

  8. I'm having the same problem. Firefox 13.0.1.

If I go to a different page, for instance 'stats', and then click on 'new post' I don't get the error.

  9. The same here, firefox 13.0.1, very often "invalid request" error when publishing a new post.

  10. I'm having this issue also on my private blog. I use Chrome version 20.0.1132.47 and it started a couple of weeks ago. I have cleared my cache, checked my cookie status and certainly don't use BETA versions of anything, nor do I have plugins enabled on my Chrome. I've rebooted both computer and router in between attempts and it still does this.

Copying and pasting the same dialogue into a new "new post" usually resolves the issue, but is involving rather a lot of extra hassle.

  11. Hmm, when I'm logged in and my URL is!/post/
    I receive the error message

But when I goto my blog page
and click the New post link in the upper right area of the webpage I don't have this issue ...

I use IE9. In both cases the URL doesn't change when I click the Now Post icon.

  12. Err, I meant to say when i click the "New Post" icon for or the "Write a Post" link for!/post/ the URL doesn't change ... but I receive the Invalid Request message for!/post/ and a successful post for

  13. If you happen to be running IE9 in compatibility mode that reduces the rendering to that of IE7 and IE7 is not supported.

If you are running Avir anti-virus then it has been causing issues too.

  14. edit: "Avir" was meant to be "Avira"

  15. "Display All Websites in Compatibility View" is not selected and there are not any websites in the "Websites you've added to Compatibility View" either ... I don't use Avira

  16. Hi,

We've identified and corrected the issue. The affected blogs are each being fixed individually.

If yours has not been fixed yet, it should be in a few hours.

  17. Hi there! I'm having this problem too. 'Invalid request' when I try to post something. Has the problem been resolved for everyone else yet?

  18. I had the exact same issue again last night, so whatever it was they fixed, it hasn't resolved it for all of us

  19. I'm also having this same issue. I had to use try three different browsers (Chrome, Safari and Firefox, respectively) to publish my post. Sometimes one browser works, another time it doesn't. If there's something that can be done, I appreciate it. Thanks!

  20. Please post into the sticky post on this issue located at the top of the forum.

  21. First, Timethief, please remove your Jul 30 2012 post about "Permalinks causing invalid activation key error". People are posting into that thread which doesn't appear to have any relation to our issue. It's confusing the Op of that thread.

Since both I and other members still have the invalid request issue when posting, I guess the issue isn't fixed.

Here are the three threads I found and am posting on:
    Thread 1
    This thread
    Thread 3

When I post when my URL is
I do not receive the error. I am posting from my Dashboard when I do this.

However, When I post when my URL is!/post/
I receive the "invalid request" error. I access my blog from and login when I do this.

  22. Would you folks please list the URLs of the affected blogs?

  23. Hm, I don't see anything wrong there.

Specifically, where are you posting? If it the Visual editor tab, HTML editor tab, Full Screen editor, or the New Post tab on the main page?

  24. This is such a hassle, I have to re-post twice all the time. Darn WordPress. I get Invalid request every time...

  25. Same problem here;

Double-posting is annoying, and if I forget to copy and repost, I can easily lose my entry. Fix it, please?

  26. First, it's best to follow the advice from experts like Timethief, she is accurate, thorough and timely.

I'm still on training wheels when it comes to blogging or configuring WordPress but there is one thing I've learned, from personal experience, I believe to be worth passing on.

I fixed my Browser connectivity problem by reinstalling my Browser, Internet Explorer 9, for some reason it stopped saving WordPress login data correctly preventing my Blog from displaying properly or not at all.
    I wish you well.

  27. Macmanx is Staff and he has requested some additional information from those who of you who are having this problem.

    See what he says here:

    and here:

and please list it in your replies in this thread. Thanks!

    Thank you!
