IP Address For Domain Mapping

I would like the IP address range so that we can link our www domain to the IP address instead of moving the name server.
And can we subscribe to some sort of notification for when/if the IP range changes and we need to adjust accordingly.

The blog I need help with is boneanchoredhearingaid.wordpress.com.

    Hi there,

To use domain mapping with your WordPress.com site, you will need to change the name servers to point to:

    ns1.wordpress.com ns2.wordpress.com ns3.wordpress.com

We do not support other domain settings such as custom address records (A Records) with this upgrade, so you will need to use the name server option.

Is there a reason you need to map your domain in this way? We do offer the ability to manage settings to add email and then you can use the Edit DNS feature to add subdomains that point to outside services, for example, so it may not be strictly necessary to manage those through your registrar.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Hi Jerry,

I do not quiet understand this.
It said that "If your registrar requires A records, you can contact support and we’ll provide you with a list of our current IP addresses.”
Has it something to do with the issue you mention with "This upgrade". What do you mean with "This upgrade".
What can I do my end in order to setup a wordpress solution where I can use the IP address option?

  4. Hi there,

We don't have a single IP address for your site since we have your site on a number of geographically-diverse servers to improve speed and uptime.

Since we change out the IPs we use based on when different datacenters/server go online, we don't suggest using IP addresses.

Our suggested route is to map your domain (by adding it via the Store > My Domains page on your site's dashboard), add the MX records currently on your site to our Store > My Domains > Edit DNS, then changing your nameservers to WordPress.com as Jerry stated.

However, if you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below.
