Is Hatch available without a blog?

  1. I want a website without a blog

  2. No. There is no such thing.

A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication.

A website is a page based site designed to operate as a one way means of communication ie. a noticeboard.

Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based. For greater clarity read >
    Then see here >

The only themes we can use on free hosted blogs are found here

On one hand, none of the characteristic "blog" features like categories, tags, authors, dates, etc. can be removed from a free hosted blog, without purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade and doing the required CSS editing.

On the other hand, one can edit a theme free of charge. Read the comparison > and The Differences

  3. By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.

However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages

After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

  4. @suzannestedman

There is no obligation for you to make any posts at all. If you want a "standard" website without a blog then you can certainly set that up on Just choose to have a static front page, don't select a page for a blog, don't make any posts.
  5. Thank you!
