Is it possible to make the site title invisible?

  1. I would like to make my site title invisible, so that it will still show up as the title in my browser window, but not on the page. I'm going to add the site title to a custom header instead. Is this possible? I'm fairly new to WordPress. Is this something that can be accomplished using the free version of WordPress, or would I have to upgrade using custom css? If so, how? Thanks in advance for your help.

    The blog I need help with is

    Depends on the theme: some themes support hiding the tittle (in Appearance>Header), some don't - see here:

    If you use a theme that doesn't support this option, then the only way to hide the title is if you have the paid Custom Design upgrade.

  3. Thanks for getting back with me so quickly. My theme, Spectrum, doesn't support hiding text. If I upgrade to custom css, what is the code that I would need to include to accomplish this? Also, if I upgrade to custom css, does that include the ability to change fonts?

    1) To hide the blog title, you'll need to add this:

    #header #logo h1 {

    Or this, to hide the title and the tagline:

    #header #logo h1, #site-description {

    2) Yes, fonts too - see here:

  5. Great, thanks for your help!

    You're welcome.

  7. I just entered this code on my blog, and it did remove the site title and tagline. It also moved the header up in the page though. Now the background image at the top of the page that comes from the theme is partially obscured. Is there a way to hide the title and tagline but also put in a place holder so that it doesn't shift the rest of the page up?

  8. Nevermind...I got it figured out.
