Is there any benefit to adding tags for words used in post?

    Hi
    Is there any benefit to adding tags for words and phrases already used in the post text?
    I would have thought that they were not used as the search engine would find them in the post text.
    Any help appreciated.

    You are right: tagging was greatly abused, so search engines nowadays pay attention to your content rather than your tags. Here’s Matt Cutts of Google:

    The only minor benefit is that when you tag a post, it will appear in the respective wordpress.com “Topic” page. But post categories work the same way.
