    is this code ok for posting?
    i don’t seem to get the image to appear after several tries. i am beginning to wonder if it is valid for wp.
    <a href="" style="color: #D64B32; text-decoration: none; display: block; width: 286px; height: 128px; padding-top: 50px; padding-left: 17px; background: url( no-repeat; font-family: Times New Roman, sans-serif; font-size: 30px;">65%<span style="display: none;">How Addicted to Blogging Are You?</span></a><p><small>Mingle2 - <a href="" style="color: #ccc;">Dating Site</a></small></p>

    Thanks in advance!

    There is no image that I can see. It’s really a link to a dating site.

    Hidden link to a dating site. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    Yeah, I found it too. {she shakes her head}

    This blogger has been “collecting codes” and does not seem to be aware of the “tat” and malicious stuff that can be embedded in them. Reference:

    @the both of you,
    is it a problem if an image links to a dating site? i didn’t know that. i must read the tos.

    if it is a problem for wp, then how come wp didn’t suspend the other blog where i found it?

    heck, i found out about the blogging stuff offered by this site through another blog; via clicking the arrow in the top right hand – and i don’t think i can find that site again. or else i could have given you the url

    you are supposed to see an image like this here:

    By posting an image linked to a dating site on your blog you must be aware that you would be advertising that dating site for them, right?

    you mentioned that thread about collecting codes. i actually left that thread LONG AGO, because of YOUR continued objections and sarcastic remarks. what more do you want me to do, come over to where you live and beg on my knees to pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese forgive me?

    here i am feverishly working on my blog in a way that is important to me although it is 3am over here and you actually made me cry. not that i believe you understand people’s emotions.
    i only hope you are a better person in real life compared to what you are digitally.

    and about linking to a dating site, is it personally your problem? or wp’s? if it is your problem i don’t care. or should i?

    if it is a wp issue, then instead of lashing out on me, do something about the blog where i found it first, so that other worthless bloggers like me can’t follow the piedpiper.

    I am not “lashing out at you” and I find your pattern of histrionics to be quite out of line. No person makes another person cry and every adult knows this.

    I asked you if you understood that posting this code with a hidden link to a dating site in it amounted to advertising and you did not reply to it. Instead you became emotional, accusatory and you insulted me.

    i am out of line alright. i am accusatory and insulting too, i suppose. guess what, that makes the two of us then.

    yes i am emotional and i cry. welcome to the real world, everybody is not as unemotional as you are.

    i don’t have to understand what advertising is. as long as i see something in a free wp .com blog i will take it for granted that i can use it without being questioned.

    that makes the two of us then

    This kind of statement is blatantly untrue. I read this thread and there is no point in it where I became emotional, accusatory or insulting towards you.

    as long as i see something in a free wp .com blog i will take it for granted that i can use it without being questioned

    There are over a million blogs. Until those bloggers who are not obeying the no advertising rules are caught out, reported to staff and staff makes the call to suspend their blogs then one would have to be either stupid or naive to take the position you expouse.

    I have washed my hands of you.

    shomoshor: i’ve seen a few people pasting the results of that quiz in tag surfer. i didn’t notice the direct link to the dating site then, but it’s there in the code you pasted. i’ve altered the link to link to the quiz instead, why not try this:

    <a href="" style="background: transparent url('') no-repeat scroll 0% 50%; color: #d64b32; text-decoration: none; display: block; width: 286px; height: 128px; padding-top: 50px; padding-left: 17px; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial; font-family: Times New Roman,sans-serif; font-size: 30px">65%<span style="display: none">How Addicted to Blogging Are You?</span></a>
    <small>Mingle2 - <a href="" style="color: #cccccc">Take the quiz</a></small>

    this shouldn’t get you into trouble with wp; i’ve seen many postings of quiz results with links to the quiz itself.

    perhaps this will help you and staff catch the culprits out of a million wp blogs out there.

    thank you for finally washing your hands of me. i need a break from you as well.

    ps: of course you were not emotional. i was. you didn’t even read my post properly.

    {shaking my head}
    There was only one person in this thread who was insulting and emotional and that was shomoshor.

    thanks so much for providing a solution. i really appreciate it. i am sorry that i don’t understand all the nuances yet. but i am trying my best, you know.

    ok no problem. we learn as we go along, as they say. (whoever they are!)

    shomoshor; if you’ve been reported as spam, staff will make that call themselves. If you haven’t been, no problem.

    Everyone, everywhere, who posts quizzes from external sites gets a link to that site as part of the code. If they were considered spam, would not allow them to post those codes here.

    You do not have a problem. There are hundreds of those codes posted on blogs. It is routine.

    thanks so much for passing the final verdict!

    can you imagine? it’s 5 in the morning and i have been online all night doing stuff. and it was totally worth it, cos now the issue is settled and i can go to sleep peacefully!

    I’m not staff, so it’s not really “FINAL final” but I do have well over a hundred quizzes on my site, each of which has a link to an external site. The content of those sites isn’t really an issue for us as long as it’s SFW and we’re not deliberately driving traffic to them. That’s according to the ToS.

    thank you. your explanation helps. all these things…direct links, deliberately driving traffic etc etc…stupefies me. but at least i have a basic guideline now.

    Specifics can always be send to before posting if you really don’t know for sure.
