Is wordpress slow only for me?

    Several times a day I have to close wordpress totally and go do other things because it’s simply too slow. It takes forever to open a dashboard or someone’s blog. Sometimes, after it finally opens I see not the whole page, it’s without some styles. http://i.imgur.com/UuQpg.png

    Does it only happen to me?

    The blog I need help with is usyaka.wordpress.com.

    This has never happened to me. I’m on DSL running XP and Firefox 8. What happens when you clear your browser cache and cookies? http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

    This has never happened to me.

    I’m on the same connection as usyaka. Both 1.gravatar.com and s.wordpress.com resolve to a server on EdgeCast CDN, which distributes load across different servers and regions, so that may explain why you haven’t seen this, while we had.
    (I use a different browser, BTW).

    The fact that this only happens occasionally makes it harder to debug, but if WordPress or EdgeCast admins are interested, here’s the traceroute log when it succeeds in connecting (except for 1-3 steps where my IP shows):

    Have you reported what you posted above directly to Staff. If not then here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

    Will you please provide us with some details so we can try to help you?

    1. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

    2. Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

    3.Which browser and version of it are you using?

    4. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

    5. Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.

    7. Do you have JavaScript enabled?

    8. Do you have another browser you can try?

    Speaking of turning things off and on, if you have a modem or DSL router etc, it is good to turn them off and reboot them every now and then too.

    Seriously, though, people from WordPress.com support emailed me back, said that there were issues that might have been fixed. I told them that there’s still a problem with this particular server (93.184.220.20), and waiting for their reply.

    Yes, indeed it is. Unlike those who leave their computer connected at all times I disconnect my computer completely every night form my router and from the electrical outlet every night.

    The first two members who posted into this thread are using the same connection and we do not know if the third member who posted is also using the same connection or not. So I tried not to post too much confusing stuff, as it could be that all that member needs to do is clear their browser cache and cookies. :)

    It’s running very very slowly for me tonight too, and yesterday it was fine.

    I also reboot completely from time to time, sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn’t. (Am running Firefox on Windows XP)

    Well, we are a blogging service with almost 25 million blogs and over 28 million users, so speed is never going to be a totally constant thing. There may be slow patches, but it should never slow to a crawl.

    We aren’t having any network issues recently, and things seem to moving along smoothly for me.

    I’d reconnect resetting your router and modem. If that doesn’t solve the issue, the slowness may be your ISP, and I’d recommend tracking down another connection just to check.
