This post is very likely to be closed, so type it in another post if this one is closed, which it will be because the staff have VERY short tempers.

    Things I’d like changed:

    1) Return of “Save and Continue Editing” button. Because “Save” should close and put a post away for later editing.

    2) “Your post has been saved. View post | Edit post” — No, the post was just PUBLISHED. Calling it Saved now is confusing.

    3) I don’t like scrolling down to add Categories. The side placement was better.

Since image editing now works, I’ll have to play around to see what new features might have been added there. Is there truth to the rumor multiple uploads might be coming? That would be great!

Whooooaaaa! I’ll have to try that. Will have to devise a post now where I can try that (that’ll shut me up for a while!).

I don’t like it. I can’t figure out a way to post PICTURES!!! AHHHH! My blog would SUCK without pictures…

    #210078

Click on the square looking icon to the right of the “add media:” at the top of the editor and a window will pop up where you can upload and insert the image.

To find older images, click on the round icon at the right end after “add media:” and it will bring up a window. Click on media library at the top and it will bring up all media files you have uploaded.

WordPress was simple, now it is over.

Please give us the normal version back.

I only have one dislike about the new layout. I liked on the old system that I could type in my categories separated by commas and have them pulled up from the list. That saved having to scroll through nearly 400 categories to fnd the ones that I needed, I could just type them in. I was a little worried about save and continue editing appearing to be gone but now I know it is not. That feature is handy for those of us who live blog sporting events and such.

In general I have nothing against the new design, except that it’s a bit too retro for my taste.
Anyway, I would like to have the options or however you call it at the very top of the page back. It appears everywhere except the dashboards. There one can only choose between his or her blogs and has to scroll etc for other options. Would it be possible to change this according to the “toolbars” just mentioned which appear on other pages?

Sorry, Orbvab, I like the new look and features. I don’t find it slow, nor confusing. I’d rather the Automattic Production team keep trying new things, (good or bad), than having a stagnant, unimaginative host site.

I think as a few hours go by, things will get quite fast. I noticed that on my self-hosted blog after I upgraded to 2.5. There is some powerful caching stuff going on and once things get cached, admin pages load virtually in the blink of an eye.

    #210188

As an example, my write page is now cached, and when I click on the write tab, it takes one second for the page to load and be ready for me to start writing a post.

i agree with mikecane. i like a wider screen for writing, and i like the categories on the side. i add categories while reading through my post. with the categories at the bottom, i have to go up and down constantly and keep losing my place. one other thing about the categories and tags–they don’t show up in preview until you save the post. i liked when we had the ‘save and continue editing’ option. it made me feel a bit more secure to be able to see the tags when i previewed.
maybe i am doing something wrong, but i am finding it very difficult to find a post that is yet unpublished. i have to scroll through the pages of posts now instead of just clicking on ‘write’ and having the unpublished posts listed at the top for me (i am the lazy sort).
on the stats page, i would rather have the blog stats graph removed and left on the separate page. it is redundant and takes up room that could be used to either make the lettering larger and more legible or to allow more info on the page.
and that’s about 8 cents of my 2 cents’ worth.

Hmmmm… I just tried that. I think what might be happening is you’re not hitting Save. If you go straight to Preview, the entire post has a tendency not to display (dumb!!!). After hitting Save, I do see what Category I’ve checked (after having to scroll down to select it! — argh, I hate that!).

“i am finding it very difficult to find a post that is yet unpublished. i have to scroll through the pages of posts now instead of just clicking on ‘write’ and having the unpublished posts listed at the top for me (i am the lazy sort).”

It’s still only two clicks from the Dashboard – just a different two clicks. Click on “Manage” and you’ll see a “Drafts” link right up near the top, in the next line below “Manage Posts.” (This was an issue for me too, because one of my sites sometimes has a queue of as many as 30 unpublished posts.)

Agreed about the stats constituting a distraction. On one private group blog, it’s particularly useless – our site visitors graph is permanaently flatlined.
