Just starting: can I design my blog without it showing on the Internet?

I’m a newbie with an existing blog on a do-it-yourself website, http://www.storydriven.net/blog.htm, a Sitebuilder (do-it-yourself) website hosted by my professional association. I want to move the blog and its content (just the blog) to WordPress but I don’t want it to show or be searchable by Google, etc., until I’m ready. Questions:

    1. Can I stay behind the scenes until I’m ready to publish the posts I already have up on the old blog, plus any new ones?

    2. Is there an article on WordPress that could tell me the easiest or most efficient way to migrate content from a blog on a non-Wordpress website?

Thanks so much for any help out there!

The blog I need help with is stalkingtheelephant.wordpress.com.

    1. You can go to settings > privacy and set the site to private and then when ready set it back to public.

    2. See this support document on importing content from other sources.

If where you are importing from is not directly supported, let us know where the other material is and we might be able to come up with something for you.

Thanks so much–I think I can find my way around now. Really appreciate the fast reply.
