Left Side Bar comments/date

  1. I use Yoko Theme. I am wondering if there is a way to move the comments so they are underneath the post instead of in the left side bar?

  2. oops.. not with that blog.. it's with http://lesawithane.com

  3. Hi there, when I look at one of your posts with comments, such as http://lesawithane.com/2016/02/11/get-upside-down/, the comments are below the post. Am I misunderstanding what you are wanting?

  4. Sorry I didn't clarify... I mean on the home page.

  5. The main page (posts page) does not display comments, and one of the reasons for that is that if you get lots of comments, it would severely slow posts page loading times and also, people may have to scroll a long way to get to the next post. There is no way to add this functionality to a theme here at WordPress.com.

    There is only one theme here with that option, and that is the P2 Breathe theme which is designed for collaborative sites and is the one that we use for our internal communications.

  6. I am so sorry, I really am not making myself very clear. My fault!! I have a hard time explaining because I don't understand this stuff super well. What I want is on the posts page, on the left where it says either
    "make a comment" or
    "2 comments" for example,
    in the left side bar (left of my post)... I want to know if there is a way to get rid of that or put that "2 comments" somewhere else. so that the left side bar is clear.

  7. Ah, thanks for hanging in there, now I understand.

    We can move it so its above the title. Due to the fact that the div the comments link is in is before the post title, I would suggest leaving it above the title. If we move it, we have to use position: absolute; and that comes with problems. I've also increased the content width so that it uses that area. Add this to your custom CSS and see what you think.

    #content .entry-header, #content .entry-content, #content .entry-details {
        width: 100%;
        padding-right: 0;
        float: right;
    }
    .site-content img {
        width: 100%;
    }
    #content .post {
        padding-right: 20px;
    }
  8. thesacredpath... thank you so much for putting up with me and helping me! You are amazing. I do have one more question.
    I didn't necessarily like using the entire space for the blog because it made the pictures huge and I do like having it more in the center.
    I didn't end up loving the comments above the blog. So I think I will leave them on the left.. however...
    Is there a way to just get rid of the "comments" so the left side bar is blank?
    I don't really feel it is important to have the "comments" on the post page. Do you have a different opinion?
    Again, thank you so so much!!

  9. Yes, we can hide the comments to the left of the posts with the following.

    .entry-details {
    display: none;
    }

    The above would also hide the date, so you can remove the other CSS rule you have and just use the above.

  10. AWESOME!!! You are so great. Thank you for your help!

  11. You are welcome, and thanks.
