I love the wordpress service, but would very much appreciate having a LibraryThing widget. Please consider this!

The blog I need help with is immoderate.wordpress.com.

I’m sorry to say that the Library Thing widget gas been requested previously but was not introduced as it used code ie. javascript, which will be stripped out by wordpress.com software.

This is the code for the widget:
    <div id="w333d4d36ab398800587ec7bb0b9153cb"></div><script type="text/javascript" charset="UTF-8" src="http://www.librarything.com/widget_get.php?userid=timspalding&theID=w333d4d36ab398800587ec7bb0b9153cb"></script><noscript><a href="http://www.librarything.com/profile/timspalding">My Library</a> at <a href="http://www.librarything.com">LibraryThing</a></noscript>

These are the restricted codes at wordpress.com > http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ Code, Embeds, Flash, HTML, Javascript

Is there no way, then, to create a widget that links to my LibraryThing library?

You cannot use the widget supplied by LibraryThing because it contains javascript and the software will strip the code out as I have said above. However, you can make your own.

You can of course link to your profile or book list or whichever of your pages you want at LibraryThing. Therefore all you need to do is capture an image and then link the image to the URL of the page of yours at LibraryTHing that’s appropriate. You can place the linked image you create either in an image widget or a text widget and display it in your sidebar.

    Hope this helps. :)
