Line Spacing Issues

  1. Can anyone please help before I end up tearing my hair out.

    For example:
One post I have is currently showing line spacing to be like this

    empty line
    Paragraph ..... and so on

But in the WRITER it is like this

    empty line
    empty line
    empty line
    empty line

If I try to have even ONE less space it will NOT have the space between the paragraphs on the post.

This is ONE of numerous line spacing issues I've had
I've resorted to having white dots between lines in some cases!

What is going wrong, why does this keep happening?

The blog I need help with is

  2. I didn't get your question altogether. I think you're talking about "when you enter to create a new paragraph then the line is empty and paragraph starts after that empty line.
Try writing in HTML editor. It has full control over whatever you want to write.
Feel free to ask any further question you have.

  3. I've done that before when I couldn't get a blank line between two paragraphs

I literally went in to html and added the html for line break
Sometimes that works but sometimes even that ignores me
    Every time I save the added < b r > is missing

I will trying writing totally in the html and see. I don't have much hope though

  4. the HTML editor inside wordpress.coms post/page editor will recognize the br / tag, but it becomes invisible after you move away from the editor.

so all you have to inside the HTML editor is (shift)(Enter) and it is the same as a single line break.

The Editor will also strip out (p)text(/p) sometimes also, i don't know why it does this.. but normally you can just skip a line and it will leave one blank line.

    blah blah
    blah blah
    blah blah .

    blah blah (new paragraph)
    blah blah.

in the visual editor its (shift)+(enter) for a line break
and (enter) for a new paragraph.

  5. * i forgot to say don't use the
. just goto the next line or press (shift)+(enter)

  6. fix:
    * i forgot to say don't use the BR tag
just goto the next line or press (shift)+(enter)

  7. 1) Please be specific: paste the URL of the post in question (so we can check its code) instead of writing about "one post", and tell us how exactly you'd like it to be instead of pasting dummy text here.

    2) You say that the editor displays four empty lines. That's wrong. Did it do it by itself or did you add them? If so, why?

  8. PS The correct form of the br tag is this:
    <br />
But it's not used to create blank lines.

  9. I am having line spacing problems where my posts now automatically double space.

I would really appreciate it if wordpress would add line spacing button(s)/icon to the tool bar in "visual" mode (vs. "html" mode) to simplify the editing--I have no idea how to use all those codes.

  10. Please see here for more > WordPress Formatting and Spacing
A single click of ENTER will give you a double spaced line. If you are working in the Visual editor, to get single spacing between paragraphs hold the SHIFT key down and simultaneously click ENTER at the end of the paragraph. If you are working in the HTML editor, a single click of ENTER will give you a single-spaced line, and two clicks of ENTER will result in double spaced lines.

  11. Hey timethief--Thanks for the pointers. That worked : )
