Links not in correct order

I created a link widget and put 5 links in it.
I put a rating of 1-5 on the links, but they do not show in the correct order.
They seem to be ordered by when they were created, oldest first.
    What am I doing wrong?
I am using the paperpunch theme.
    Thanks!

You can go to Appearance > Widgets, open the Links widget you’ve added and specify the order option you prefer by selecting the appropriate item from the “Sort by” pulldown.

Thanks for the reply…I’m new to this so I forgot to say that I did set the “Sort by” to “Link rating”. I also checked “Show Link Name” and left the box blank next to “Number of links to show”, which shows all links.

You’re right: I tried things in my test blog and the option seems to be broken.

Alternative solution: replace your three Links widgets with three Custom Menu widgets.
You’ll need to go to Appearance > Menus and create three menus, add the appropriate custom links to each one of them, drag the links to change their order if necessary, save each menu; then go to Appearance > Widgets, remove the Links widgets, add the Custom Menu widgets, give each one a title and select the right menu from its pulldown, save.
For more on custom menus see here:

I followed your directions and it worked!
(I put the new custom menu in inactive status for now)
I do have a follow up question…is it possible to make the links open up in a new window? Thanks for your help! P.S. Is there any way to let WP know of this problem?

I’m sorry but the answer is “no”. If you wish you can make this suggestion to Staff in the Ideas Forum.

    Timethief’s reply is wrong.
If you mean links in a Links widget, see here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/add-a-blogroll-link/#target-module
If you mean links in a custom menu, see here (under “Other options, special cases and tricks”):
