My blog is about my conversion to Catholicism and I have set up a page as a suggested reading list. Rather than just a list of books, I would like to be able to link the titles to the book at Amazon so my readers can see the book cover and easily find the books. I understand I'm not allowed to have ads on my blog but if I'm not an Amazon affiliate but just linking to titles to help readers find the books, is that also a violation of the no ads policy? Here's my blog: http://www.runningmom.wordpress.com

Links to book on Amazon.com
Linking to a book over on Amazon with a link that doesn't contain an affliate code should be fine. We're not staff members here in the forums so we can't tell you that 100%. Best bet would be to throw up a sample post with what you plan on doing and send in a feedback to staff and ask them if it's OK and pointing out that there's no affliate link.
Hope this helps,
"A discrete link to Amazon or similar in the context of a post is okay, but if the primary purpose of the blog is to drive traffic to affiliate programs that’s not allowed."
That quote from the FAQ makes it clear that the original poster is absolutely in the clear. See:
Yup drmike and all the forum regulars can probably recite the whole one discrete link section by heart. However, if it were me, I would rather be safe than sorry. Like drmike suggests I'd put up a sample post and then send in a feedback to staff asking if what I planned to do was okay or not.
We are allowed to link to commercial sites. The affiliate condition is what makes a link contentious, and that does not exist in this case at all. No probs.
Thanks! I'll complete my reading list (and include the links) and then ask the staff to check it out. How do I go about contacting the staff? I'm still pretty new here so I'm just learning my way around.
There are two ways you can use to contact staff. The first is to use the feedback button on the top right hand corner of any blog page. The second is to send an email to support (at) wordpress (dot) com.
