Location of ads.
I understand the use of ads to provide the free provisions; however, must they be obnoxious flashing ads that appear at the very top of the page? I’m saddened by this, yet do not have the resources to purchase no-ads. Is there way to request WHERE the ads could be placed?
The blog I need help with is combatchapel.wordpress.com.
There are no obnoxious flashing ads placed by WordPress.com. The ads WordPress.com places are at the end of posts.
I suggest you disable all your browser addons and then enable them one at a time to locate the culprit.
WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. If you are seeing those then that’s a browser-ad-on issue, or in some cases, it’s embedded into free games and/or toolbars downloaded from the internet. See here: Bloggers: Beware of Adware. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/09/14/bloggers-beware-of-adware/
If what you are seeing whenever you save or update a post or page is an automatically added code/script block at the end of posts and pages that you can’t delete then see here: Malware Targets Macs and Windows PCs http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/10/02/malware-targets-macs-and-windows-pcs/
If what I posted above is not helpful then take a screenshot, http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ upload it to your Media Library, return to this thread and post the file name into it. Then Staff will examine it and respond to you in this thread.
Thanks, timethief. Although I have not been active in a while, I’ve always been very pleased with WordPress & this evolution caused serious concern. As a minister, I have no $$ for ‘extra’ services (recently allowed a 25yr old website to go dormant for same reason).
I’ll double check my addons. As a 20+yr computer systems analyst, I’ve checked them once already. This problem only exists with my wordpress page and did not appear until today with my post today. Oddly enough, it doesn’t seem to occur when I’m not logged in. Go figure.
Thanks again. jls
