Long drop down menu
Is it possible to have the “archives” pick up posts from on the front page, thus leaving perhaps only three posts there, while the rest are archived on another page? My concern is that my one drop down menu on my front page will become quite long.
Also, is it possible to restrict which posts are archived? Many of my posts are already under headings on my front page and don’t really need to be archived.
Thanks so much!
The blog I need help with is eyesofthemountain.com.
When we publish a post (not a page) it automatically appears in the Archives pages. The software does it all – we bloggers don’t do anything. In the majority of themes, posts on category or other archive pages show up just as they do on the main posts page. But in some themes only the beginnings of posts are shown, and in a few themes you only get titles or thumbnails. See here for a theme by theme breakdown > Category/archive pages: full posts or not
The number of posts that are displayed on the front page of the blog is set here > Settings > Reading:
Blog pages show at most __posts
Nishita theme description >
This photo-loving theme also uses post thumbnails to show a small version of images on your archive pages. Out of the box, the theme will crop the image attached to the post and make a thumbnail for you. If you prefer to crop your own thumbnail—or use a different image—use the Featured Image tool to set the alternate thumbnail image.
