Looking for appropriate template for online art gallery

  1. I want to convert my Dad's website to wordpress and am looking for a template which is easy to modify to fit the current design. I specifically need a template which allows me to add thumbnails which link to a larger image and description

I'd really appreciate some suggestions based on the following site:

    Many thanks

  3. You did not say if you wanted to have a self hosted site or if you wanted to put your fathers gallery on WordPress.COM. Difficult to answer your question without that information.

This Forum is for sites hosted on WordPress.COM. For the difference:

That said virtually every WordPress Theme has the ability to have thumbnails linked to larger pictures. WordPress.COM has just over 100 themes to choose from. My guess is about 50% would be suitable for your example and to my eye about 15% are ones I would choose from.

Just a matter of you deciding where you want to host the site and then if at WordPress.COM signing up and paging through the Themes and finding one that you and your dad like.

  4. Hi

Thanks for the advice. My dad's current website is at and I have started adapting the Kubrick theme which can be found at

I'm playing around with a few plugins to allow for the thumbnail functionality but have not found one which allows for the description to be displayed (ie price, dimensions etc). I could simply set this up manually but I need this to be as easy and automated as possible for my luditte Dad :)

  5. You went the self hosted route - ask at WordPress.ORG for more help with the Plug-in's:

They are the keeper of the self hosted WordPress.ORG software

  6. Ok thanks, I post the request there
