I am a 40 year old, female, divorced, single parent, student wanting to lose weight; within a year can it be done????? I am starting this blog, as a weight loss journal. Last week was my 40th Birthday, and I am serious about losing weight. I decided the beginning of the year that I wanted a healthier body. I first started that goal by stopping smoking. I smoked for over 10 years, and tried to quit many times with the aid of medications and nicotine patches- all those times I failed. The beginning of the year I quit smoking for good, I did it cold turkey (yes people it can be done). It has been months since my last cigarette, and I have officially quit counting the minutes, hours, and days since my last puff. Know don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy to quit and it is even harder to not start back up. I am however officially a non smoker and I want to keep it that way.
Ok back to the reason I am here- The most I have ever weighed was 250 pounds. At this very moment my weigh in is at 234 pounds. I am giving myself a goal of one year to lose weight. That is 12 months; breaking that down that is 52 weeks or 365 Days. I am 234 pounds I am 5 foot 8 inches a health weight range for my height is 122 to 164 pounds.
A little history about me, I worked in the medical field for 22 years and also worked for the government. Three years ago I injured my back assisting a patient- at that time I obtained three herniated discs, and annular tear, and a dislocated femur. I decided not to have surgery, or injections- it has been a long hard recovery (living with chronic pain is no fun). Limited exercise and medications have added to my weight problem over the past three years.
I have been to weight loss specialists, and have spent more money than I care to admit… no programs I have tried have worked. One problem I face is, I am a night eater. I only eat once a day, and I eat way less than 1,000 calories per day- but all calories are consumed after 6pm.
Specialists aren’t really sure how to approach my starvation mode, and eating habits- so I am going to take control of it myself. In my blog I will write down methods, supplements, and exercises I will be doing, plus weigh in’s every Friday.
(Maybe I should put this just in case- disclaimer I am not recommending that anyone try or do any of the things I may post; for I am not a doctor, but if you are interested seek the advice from your healthcare professional before starting or taking anything to aid in weight loss Thank you!)
Today is actually Day 10 of my journal- last week I lost 5.8 pounds, you can check daily on my blog of my progression or leave a message here
The blog I need help with is akasodapop.wordpress.com.
