Lost widgets while testing different themes

  • Hey, I was testing out some different themes, and I wanted to live demo with my content, but they just had the live demo of their own. Anyway, switched themes a couple of times, one that doesn’t have widgets by default. So, I seem to have lost all my widgets, can I recover them somehow? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I don’t know who tagged this thread for Staff help or why they did that.

Is this the blog you are referring to?

If so this is the theme description
    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/triton-lite/

No content is ever lost when changing themes.

Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes
browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate”
or type in the name of the theme you want to use and
click the “activate” link when it appears

After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

    Hope this helps!

  • Thanks! I was thinking they were gone, so didn’t scroll all the way down! I’d usually always kept themes with widgets!

In the end I wasn’t too distraught, but nice to know they are there! Thanks once again, and apologies for not thinking outside the box (read: scrolling down) on this occasion!

  • Not to worry. I’m glad I was able to help. Happy blogging!
